Prety good, but where's the Punk?

Overall a great stage set, for a pretty decent main quest, which gave me just enough urgency to follow it at my own pace (Witcher 3 or Skyrim felt a bit to pressing). The sidequests on the other hand were pretty numerous, but overall pretty forgettable. There were some great exceptions, but overall more filler than thriller. Game mechanics mostly worked well for me: Gunplay was fun, melee a bit less but still pretty decent, hacking was a bit "meh" (but unless you count Paradroid, I've never seen fun hacking mini-games). Stealth was OK as well. Crafting was a bit dull, but at least rewarding. The only totally un-fun mechanic was driving, but I don't like driving games in general, so don't take my word for it :-) Playing since Patch 1.05, I didn't encounter any game breaking problems, besides a few odd decisions of the physics-engine what counts as a deadly falling height (I'm pretty sure 1m shouldn't count). However, given the setting I wished it had more opportunities for role-playing. The story seems pretty linear and except for slightly different rewards in side-quests choices or different approaches don't seem to have much impact on the outcomes. There are different endings but how you behave in the game has little impact on them (It's more a question of having ended certain quests rather than your choices). And mostly I miss the opportunity to be a more, you know, Punk. Johnny, PanAm and even River the Cop felt more Punk than V. V's just a Merc, having no agenda (and seldomly the opportunity) to do anything besides saving his/her own ass, and picking up money along the way. I dunno, somehow feels like there's something missing.

Garbage

This game was maybe 2/5 stars on initial release. Full of bugs, many crashes, etc. Now that 1.2 is out, game is better right? Wrong. Game crashes on "space" bar screen, doesn't load at all. Man, this is pathetic.

Simply fantastic!

I'm one of the lucky ones who waited until patch 1.5 to try this game out. I knew nothing of the Iaunch version except that it had lots of bugs, so I never tried it out. After playing Cyberpunk now for 40+ hours, I have only seen one or two minor bugs with quest tracking on the map, that's it. As a big fan of the original Deus Ex and it's sequels, I feel that Cyberpunk is like Deus Ex meet's Half-Life 2. Simply fantastic. I've been fully immersed in this world for 3 days since I started playing, and had heaps of fun. The story and side-missions have been a thrill. And game game looks gorgeous of course. Regarding the gameplay mechanics, I especially love how the fast forward dialogue option works. I really hope all games of this type could have it going forward. It's works so damn well! Keanu Reeves is awesome as Johnny. I look forward to seeing where the story goes from here, as I still have lots of ground to cover. ---------------------------------- Some things that I do hope that the devs add to the game, which are slight bummer as is: - Missing clothes/gear preview at shops (have to buy clothes and then load the game if it doesn't look like you wanted) - It is sometimes confusing to know where a certain cyberware mod goes to. Again, have to load the game if it doesn't fit in any of your parts.

Cyberpunk 2077

Unlike many other negative reviews, I honestly loved the game on release day. I did not experience any of the issues others did or claim to have, and enjoyed the overall feel that the game gave me. What I did not like was the ending, the fact that no matter what road you choose, the ending would be the same, albeit a different version or variation of it. Pros: + Gun, Melee & Cyber warfare fights are great. Love the cyber bit a lot. + Models and animations are awesome. + Lots of missions and a good storyline. + Great cast of character and good voice acting. + Variations of paths to take to complete your objective. + The adult theme can't be adult enough. Cons: - Johnny Silverhand (Sorry, but not sorry. I love Keanu Reeves, but this character is someone you either like or dislike and I disliked the persona quite a bit. I feel that at the same time, it should be an optional tidbit of the game, where choices matter, even in the beginning. Having JS stuck with you from the get-go ruins a lot of the story for me. On my 2nd playthrough I skipped all his BS chitchat. At the same time, the insertion of this character adds to the lethal ending of the MC. I get that there are variations, but oh boy was this a bad move in my books. Summary: The game should have been called Dead Man Walking to be true to the overall theme of the game. At any rate, I've played it to death several times and while there were some odd bugs here and there, the game gave me a satisfactory playthrough. Now I know a lot of QOL updates are coming this way as CDProjekt intends to heavily invest in CP2077 as a franchise, so expect a lot of fixing and a probably a lot of free DLC. To the devs: You guys rock. Keep up the good work and grow to be better and stronger together. Peace.
