You cut the begining of this stupid game and lied to your whole fanbase for years. 2 stars for the graphic. This game ist dog shit. Also false advertisement. I hope Microsoft and Sony filling a lawsuit against cdpr. Feel bad for Hollie Bennett and Mike Pondsmith. They did a amazing job!
Hope the modder community can safe this mess and it's a total mess.
The story and characters of CP77 are stellar easy some of the best I've interacted with. The cast of the game are all voiced to the nines and have interesting and unique motivations. This is what really carries the game in its current state, but there are many quality of life and essentials that just don't work or were cut from the game. I would wait a few months to buy for the game to get some of the needed development that it should have gotten in the form of delays before picking this title up.
I will update this review when I run my second play through in a few months.
All and all, at least I'm not playing GTA:O
Why is the main story so short?
My theory is that the first cut scene where you build yourself up as a merc were you and Jackie are doing a bunch of jobs right before you start the quest where you save that corp girl was all the cut content the stuff they left out so they can shorten the main story which honestly is b.s.
Who ever said Witcher 3 was to long, should stop playing rpgs and go play a COD because with an RPG you want to sit down and invest into learning or making your character and take your time to build and explore. To have the time to do things you want and progress the main story as well. What you don’t want is to have a modified rags to riches stories that has the first act gutted. It honestly feels like you start the prologue and as the first act is about to start you just play the last mission of it and move on to the second act.
Also if it did have a full first act, I would have had more time to explore the honestly interesting and engaging side stories/quests and not feel so rushed. When I hit the point of no return I was honestly shocked and thought that it was just some midpoint of the game where it just locks you into story missions for a bit. Thankfully I googled it and seen that nope that’s the end of the game so now I had to break my head story of me trying to get the thing that’s killing me out of my head and go explore the city more.
Killing my head cannon for the run
Overall rating 3.8/5
Main story 3/5 (read above)
Side Story 4.9/5 (only reason is some quest just end with no resolution or way of finding out what happened)
RPG 3.5/5 (is it a rpg.... barley was the stuff it had fun.. yeah)
Controls 3.5/5 (serviceable but driving needs more work)(Also let me remap dash)
Stability 4/5 (look I get it the game has issue and a lot of ppl have been hit by them. However I was lucky that I wasn’t so it is what it is)
Fun 4.5/5 (Yeah had a blast for the time but felt short changed at the end by the end.. ending of the story was good-okay)
The game overall is great on PC. I run this on a 6800XT/Ryzen3600 so I don't get all the extra reflective and performance bonuses from RTX/DLSS, but overall its still pretty good experience.
The game will run terrible if you don't customise the graphical settings such as turn down volumetric fogs or cascaded shadows, additionally there are AMD specific optimisations you can find on nexus-mods that will help on top of that.
After all that I have 4k running at 60fps most the time with many settings on high, some on low/med but you don't really notice it.
This game however has many low-hanging-fruit bugs and missing features, some of the quests can randomly get stuck in dialogue, occasionally NPC dialogue can be stuck on screen or sounds of status effects can get stuck. Most of these can be resolved by reloading a earlier save-game and trying again.
As for features I'd like to see:
-Customisation of clothing material and texture (pretty simple to allow colour tone changes and even material swaps in-game, games have been doing it forever)
-Vehicle customisation needs to be a thing, just look at GTA-V on how that's to be done, or similar. Allow body part swaps and paint-job & decal additions+changes!
-The level of detail system (LOD) needs some work, for example the badlands has odd animations of dense distant non-existent traffic, it seems this could be better correlated to be more realistic and maybe even emulate ACTUAL traffic and not just randomly spawn empty animated LODs.
There are also other issues with holes in geometry and LODs that crop up at times. But overall its still a pretty good game, I got this for $61-AUD which I feel is a OK price, some can get it even cheaper, but $89-AUD is a bit steep at this point in time.
