An Underrated Masterpiece

Cyberpunk 2077 might not have launched perfectly, but even despite it's initial problems, the gameplay was fantastic, the storyline was written and delivered fantastically and the side quests were some of the best I've played in any game, many of them being more impactful and interesting even than parts of the main story. The world of Night City is absolutely astonishing, being an absolute visual masterpiece of art and design and one of the most immersive worlds I've ever experienced. While it could stand to have more to do, such as repeatable dynamic activities (which might be coming with Phantom Liberty, I hope) it's still a genuine experience to just roam the city and marvel at the astounding atmosphere, feel and visual design. With update 2.0 they've done an absolutely phenomenal job with the perk and skill updates and changes, as well as other quality of life issues. People need to learn to appreciate something for what it is, and not make comparisons to other games, as Cyberpunk is it's own entity unto itself that deserves vast amounts more appreciation for what it has to offer than the credit it's usually given by many and, in comparison to other games (if you feel you must) is still a head above most, period. Forget what ever unreasonable hype you imagined in your head and appreciate what's on offer, which is objectively incredible. Especially now with the 2.0 update. I've almost 400 hours in the game on Steam already, and have bought it also on GOG and the DLC on both platforms as well. The voice acting (particularly with female V) and story, the side quest stories, the world design itself and the gameplay and combat are all genuinely excellent. I'm extremely excited for Phantom Liberty and will gladly sink another few hundred hours into this underrated masterpiece of a game.

Average Game AT BEST

Just look at what everyone else said. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this trash

Curb Your Expects, Choom

I'm glad I waited until now to finally give this game a try. It was worth the discount price but, even in it's updated state is not worth the full asking price. The mechanics are nothing new, the combat is nothing new, the driving is nothing new...so why play this game? It has nothing to do with FOMO; in fact, I would argue that anyone on the fence should definitely watch gameplay videos post-patch 1.5 to make up their own minds. The game is no longer the bug-laden mess that it once was (but some bugs do still exist). The storyline has been patched and re-worked slightly so that it makes more sense (but will still not meet the lofty gold standard of Fallout: New Vegas). The gunplay has been re-worked so guns actually feel less like peashooters (but still in some cases do not have the requisite punch that one would expect). Despite all of this - the game is good. It has very fun gameplay loops and moral questions abound (Do Taxis Dream of Silicon Highways? lol); with a bit of modding here and there (the tram and terminal auto shops come to mind) CP2077 can feel like a modern take on a classic formula. That last line is really the ultimate praise and detriment of this title; CDPR promised the moon and shot the fans of the cyberpunk genre clear into it. It doesn't reinvent the wheel nor should it be forgiven for past sins - if a potential player is able to put that aside and buy this on the cheap then they can be entertained for a considerable time. Until some daring modder can work a patch/mod that funamentally alters the game for the better then this might be the best praise the game can ever have.

2022 and still a disappointment

Most RPGs should probably be called "roleS playing games" as there are a multitude of choices, but not with Cyberpunk 2077 — your decisions genuinely don't matter, the story is both convoluted and boring, and even years after release it feels buggy and unfinished. I regret even buying it on-sale.

Great Game so Far. Still buggy

So I've waited since the 20teens to play this game and was sold after the gameplay reveal however at the time I stopped gaming but would get a console or PC just to play. Decided to wait after launch because I saw what happened to No Man Sky....and I was right , the game is even good now like No Man's sky lol. Years later bought it when it was half price and stuck it on the digital shelf until I saw edge runners. I then bought a PC a week later. Now I'm 35hrs in on a low power, mid tier amd gaming PC and a UHD TV got damn is this game gorgeous, I can't run RT while on at 4k or 1440 but the sky is the limit on 1080p almost everything maxed. No Nvidia in sight. My biggest problem with this game is the Story and of course the bugs (which are minor at 1.6) WTF would you kill Jackie in the prologue? This did nothing but make the game feel empty. I knew he was going to die but not that soon? At least Rebecca got to live until episode 10. Jackie could have been that co-op component that this game desperately needs, it makes more sense that a team would progress through NC better than one person like a solo v. Idk watching the earlier trailers it looks like CDPR bit off more than they could chew with happens after Dex, everything is the same. It would have been so cool to make a choice that drastically alters what happens in Arasaka tower and whether you keep working for Dex, betrayed by him, or betray him and the game branches form there. I am glad they did Mike Pondsmith justice by not leaving this baby in the dumpster fire that was 2020. BUGS (noticeable but not game breaking) -Non Lethal Weapons still kill the enemy and I have to reload multiple saves to knock out someone I want alive - my car will get stuck when I drive into triggering a mission -Awkward NPC movement, minor clipping -Audio cutting during the pause menu -pop in from cars and weapons I love this game and dream about it often. I still can't get over that they killed Jackie in the prologue
