I really wanted to like this game. It's the first game I've pre-ordered, but it'll probably be the last. I know that no game could have lived up to the marketing hype, but its simply not fun to play. It's a joyless, formulaic experience. The gunplay is not enjoyable, hacking too simplistic and stealth is just not a thing.
Maybe I'll take another crack at it in a few months, but right now it feels more like a chore than a fun experience
With a AMD Ryzen 3700X, RTX 2080Ti and Nvme SSD, I'm lucky to have only a few to no bugs most of the time, and so most of the time the game is quite enjoyable. Particularly, the world, the visuals, the music and sound, and the main story (up to 'act 2') and some side quests are very good and fun.
A review says characters are easy to be forgotten. I don't think so. Jackie, Judy, Panam, Takemura, Johnny are certainly memorible. But I'm still early into the stories at 60hrs or so at this point of reviewing; can't promise I won't be disappointed by later plots. And it's also sad that some characters, such as Dum Dum, didn't have a chance to further develop (or do they?), and it's quite unfortunate.
Bugs and performance issues aside, I think the first big problem with this game, is that the system is too much like Witcher 3. Particularly, the gear system and scaling method. It's very dumb that in a reality-based future world, mass produced guns would have damages scale to the player's level, and you need lv 22 to wear a shirt or pants. Worse, the devs decided to make it a looter-shooter, with guns have diffferent random ranks and attributes. How can this be explained in a advanced tech world, where standardized mass production should be the case? All guns/clothing under the same name should have the same damages, same attributes. Upgrades should only add new mod slots or done through mod. You can probably randomize mods a little bit since in real world they're often handmade or in-house. Then you can perhaps randomize unique weapon/clothing that's are variants of the standardized things.
The second big problem is that the AI is too dumb, even on very high difficulty. They don't actively seek the attacking player if outside a certain area,
I i really liked the game for the majority of it sure much of the mechanics good be better but they were good enough for me, i ran in to very little in the way of bugs and 0 crashes, some small immersion breaks but they don´t matter to me, for me after they fix the game would have have been a solid 8 or 9 /10 but but the ending of the game form where im standing was so bad it alone drops the game to 5/10, i really really hope they add new endings in a dlc or patch since the current ones just ruin the experience and im likely to never play to the end again if they don´t do something about it.from the witcher games excelent stories its hard to believe the ending could be this creativly banckrupted, i very much believe with some hard work and better writing this game could be 9 or 10/10 hope you make this the game the masterpiece it could be cdpr
I was having a great time till i ran in too a game breaking bug! Doing the quest the Pick up part of the main quest Jackie Goes out the Door Then Poof the Door closes with jackie out side and your stuck in side can not fast travel or anything all time lost. Please Project Red fix this nothing worse then having a fun time in the game then game breaking bug happens i still love you CD Project Red.
I love this game. Its a buggy mess, but I love it. It runs well on my system, but I do get a ton of minor bugs. For most people this will not be the case, that is no secret. If the game was actually finished this would be a 5 star review. Unfortunately its not. I would wait until it is fixed to buy. When that happens I will change my review to reflect this. Everyone please remember that the dev team poured their heart and soul into making the best game they could. They worked OT and tried to put out what the fans wanted. The issues with the launch are not due to the dev team. That was the people on top making terrible decisions. I hope the hate train stays pointed at the people who deserve it, and not at the people who were doing everything in their power to put out the game we wanted and that they wanted to make.
