Thanks for the 2.0 update ,finally i have to torrent an older version to play the game properly .I heard a lot of cool streamers talk about that the game should came out like this so it would have been the best game, yeah paid super actors as always you cant even change the crouch toggle cuz the game bugs out after trying to change it to the C button .And if u wonder im not a hater i bought the game and was quite happy with it even if it had some funny bugs at the start but these are functionality bugs that are out right now even the render stencil is messed up atm
I can't believe how good and profond this game was.
Disclaimer : I'm playing it years after the shit show surrounding all the bugs and I put a solid 10 hours of modding before even starting the game so my review is what it is.
At first you are disapointed. Why? Because it's not an open RPG in the sense that everyone will have the same experience through out the game... exept for the massive plot at the end. But when you have accepted the GTA feels, when you have rebound all your keyboard, and when you got accustomed to all the little things that you need to understand to play the game seemlessly, well it's just a fantastic experience. And I'm very peaky with these things.
Contrary to comments that I have read before , all the characters are for me very memorable. You want to know more about them, to help them and to save them all the way through. The city is unbelievable in its craftness, and you won't find something that intricate and with personnality before a long time. I loved to explore every plot of it, and could'nt believe some of the vistas that I found here and there.
The only downside for me was combats, which I got through with katanas and snipers. Works well but nothing memorable.
For the main story, I have never seen cut scenes so well executed, it's like a movie : facial expressions, acting, dialogues, I finished the game 100% and I already miss them. Oh and I have to assume my last choice too. Believe me or not, I don't feel good about it but I'm happy that a game made me feel bounded to a story, the last time being with Death Stranding.
I'll stop there and keep recommanding it to you. It's a unique experience and I'm not sure why so many people didn't like it. They probably couldn't pass beyond the first impression that I was talking about, the non-classic-RPG stuff... and I'm sad for them.
The 2.1 is more the official 1.0 that they promised to release.
Gameplay is good and combat is fun, and a lot of other reviews highlight the pro's.
There are however some downsides that they should still need to change...
During all the patches they made it so that the ripperdocs are no longer unique, it is sad they took such a quick dirty change due all the complaints about two ripperdocs instead of alternative solution. They might as well remove all except one as there is no need for those anymore no, sad...
The combat difficulty on hardest is easy depending on how you play. Melee melee is extremely overpowerd, in the beginning is it challenging and you die fast but once a level and perk threshold has been reached... Well then it is over. Melee combat really needs a hard nerf, especially after the relic perks from phantom liberty it is overpowered beyond words.
The police are rather dumb. They are more around but very easy to avoid and get rid off. Would be nicer if notoriety got higher faster, and that they and Maxtec started kicking some teeth in around Night City. Maxtec is not hard for melee.
2.1 Pursued by gangs due to aggressive approach during gigs, tried and didn't see anything. Maybe they die too fast? I don't know, felt nothing different in there. Would be nice if gangs and corporations actually started noticing V due the street cred and/or reputation and act accordingly aggressive or friendlier.
Where is Trauma Team? Bring them in for once...
Stealth is fun if you force yourself to be so but it is time consuming. Same results can be done at least 10x faster with just guns blazing in there. There is no bonus or reward for doing so, or penalty when going guns blazing like something as lot less rewards/drops, slowly becoming wanted, hated by NC all... Why spend 30-60min on something that can be done in 5-10min tops. Not sure why any fixer would want hire and reward fully a shooting psycho for something that had to be done "sneakily".
Cyberpunk 2077 will never be finished, the specter of cut content and CDPR's terrible launch will haunt this game forever. The updates did a lot to fix what was broken and polish the good qualities of the game to the point that its very easy to enjoy and get into but this will never the big, consequential RPG that we all hoped for. Its frustrating when you can see from the cut features and dysfunctional locations that so much more was planned and waiting to be implemented but CDPR has to move on now.
I'll be there when they try again, they've earned that but I'm definitely not preordering when that time comes.
I played Cyberpunk when it was released, and it was really good, I had the chance to have almost no bugs, and these were only minor (and rather funny) bugs.
So I ended the game and wanted to play it all over again but... it felt kinda boring to redo just after completing it.
Now, years passed, and there's a DLC so I thought that'd be the good time to play it again.
...Except it's so boring to redo it's almost painful, I don't know exactly why, or if anybody else feels the same, but here's what, in my opinion, makes it so boring past the first playthrough:
Bad gunfight: it feels kinda clunky, and I often die because I didn't notice I took so many shots, when you're hit, you just vaguely hear an aspiration sound effect. Compare that to the game with what I consider the best gunfight system: FEAR, where, when you're hit, camera move and you feel you're hit. Even compare it to Eye Divine Cybermency where your character is pushed backward... these are good mecanics. And somewhere around the middle of the game, everything is too easy, now that's a modern games problem, there's no darn levels or quest in games like Cyberpunk were you really have to focus and try several times like Blightown from Dark Souls or the graveyard quest from Vampire Bloodlines. The challenge is just absent here.
Now, I know Cyberpunk was not focusing on the fight, but dammit it's part of the game, if you take it away, what's left ? RPG stuff ?
And here's the second problem: it doesn't feel that much like an RPG, the skills are kinda useless, the dialogue options you unlock based on your attributes doesn't seem that important, and in the end, it doesn't feel like any of your choice matters much, except maybe for the different endings in the game which leads to what I really liked in the game.
The story and the ambience are really good, and the lifespan of the game is great, so it's a great game to do once, just as you'd watch some series or movies once.
