For a game revolve around a world where people customize their body with cybernetic part, this game SEVERELY lack customization options. Like why can't I change my hair style after character customization. And HOLY LORD, this game have a lot of bugs, from NPC floating and T-Posing, character not moving their mouth when talking to people LITERALLY WALK through my car. And this game have one of the worst police system ever, if you commit a crime, police would just spawn on top of you, and all you have to do is drive past 3 block and the police would stop chasing you. The driving is meh, car in farcry 5 is more enjoyable IMO. The combat is also nothing special, the only good thing in this game is soundtrack (shit is good ngl).
The game has interesting characters, story and quests, but this is not enough to compensate for the points below:
- Bad optimization. Huge FPS drops in cutscenes and some areas even on high-end PC with DLSS enabled. I pity last-gen console players because they were literally lied to and robbed.
- Abysmal crowd and traffic AI I never experienced AI so bad in my life and I played a lot of open-world games in a city (watch dogs, saints rows, mafia, gta etc.). Remember that $7mln Polish Government grant to research "live" cities?
- Enemy AI is bad. Enemies are dumb, predictable and can't advance on player. This is unacceptable for a game that focuses on shooting, be it FPS or RPG.
- Not much to interact with in a city.
- Missing textures, signs that show placeholder texts.
- Plethora of glitches and bugs that ruin the experience. (Should I even mention that?)
- Menu is clunky and hard to get used to.
- Old-fashioned RPG mechanics. Pink t-shirt has more armor than blue t-shirt, rly?
- Unable to change character appearance in a world where fashion is allegedly so important.
- Installing implants feels the same as changing clothes. I expected that it will be more dramatic, at least give us one cutscene.
All in all, this game is a perfect example of what happens when developers are forced to crunch to meet unrealistic deadlines. I'm disappointed.
I wasn't very hyped but this is the only game I bought as a pre-order, out of patriotism.
I honestly think this game needs at least one more year in development, with rested devs not worying about business people.
I have pretty good specs but the game sometimes dips below 60fps, crashes once per hour on average and is full of clipping issues, npcs holding invisible items, not to mention cops appearing out of nowhere.
One good thing I can tell, it looks rather nice but was definitely rushed. I'm not planning to refund, but will probably wait until devs have some time to fix it.
Devs: don't worry too much, I'm sure you did your best, f*** business people & stay healthy.
The game itself is not that bad, but for all the hype it got, it fell really short. I have seen so many glitches (objects floating, character phasing through objects, etc), non of the glitches I have encontered are game-breaking, but it shows how unpolished this game is. For me the worst part is the AI, there is no excuse for having an AI this bad. You can punch someone and sometimes they will do nothing, other times they will just turn around and stare at you. The level of interaction you can have with NPCs is almost non-existent. As an example of how bad the AI is, the other day I parked a car in the middle of the sidewalk, an NPC approached the car, stopped and did absolutly nothing....did not even tried to go around...just stood there. I have no idea how CD Projekt will fix this but maybe in a year, after a LOT of patches, this game will be much closer to what I expected it to be.
One of the most anticipated and hyped up games for a long time now.
Did it deliver you ask? Well... yes and no...
If you solely play this game for the story and combat aspect of this game, you will like it.
Story is great, you feel connected with the protagonist V since you make all the dialogue choices, making the main protagonist quite a bit more personal to yourself.
And the combat aspect is fun with a lot of different ways to mow down any enemy that you come across. Whether you want to go sneakily around your enemies and assassinate them with your silenced weapon or just make a lethal takedown, or if you wish to go berserk and mangle them with your mantis blades, it's all up to you.
Now the bad stuff...
- First point, character customisation. There are no place where you can change the way your character looks, except for the character creation screen. Even GTA V had the possibility to change your looks after creating your character.
- Second point is animations. This is supposed to be an open world RPG, yet there are no animations for when you eat food or drink beverages. No animation for when you install cybernetics on your character.
And then we have the small things like the vending machines, where when you order a soda, I was expecting a soda can to pop out of the machine. What popped out instead? Some default object for food & beverages. This is not what I expect from a game that showed soda cans popping out of the vending machines in their demos.
Am I being nitpicky? Probably, but I'm simply asking for what was promised and shown in the demos.
- Third point, world A.I. The A.I. in this game is just straight up stupid. You do the slightest thing, and they all panic, even accidentaly double tapping so you dodge will make them panic. And then the lack of dialogue the A.I. has is just boring. The A.I. feels stale, boring, stiff and just not very good.
So for now, the score is a 3/5. If they can patch the things I mentioned, easily 5/5.
