DO NOT BUY THIS GAME UNTIL THEY FIX THE TEXTURE GLITCHES AND BUGS. THIS IS NOT A AAA GAME ITS IN BETA.
Uninstall the game twice and used scan and repair because texture, objects and people still load in while moving to the point that it hurts my eyes on my RX 6800 R 5600X gaming PC.
All you need to do is compare the released game to the demo showed at E3. I don't think anyone can say with a straight face that the released game was on par or better.
Overall I liked the game - I have 146h 35m of playtime when writing this.
There are many issues that bothered me. Many things that were advertised are not there and even basic systems are missing.
The good:
1. Story is really good and I felt like I had an impact on the environment.
2. Quickhacks are super fun.
3. Game has overall good aestethic. Music and art are goregous.
The bad:
1. AI is very bad. NPCs in cars can drive only in straight line and do basic turns. There is no way for them to deal with obsticles so they just stand in place. When you shoot the cars they stop, NPC gets out and either cowers in fear or runs away. It feels very unnatural.
2. There is no Police AI. It is even worse when combined with previous issue. There is no way for the police to arrive at a crime scene (where you shoot someone, for me usually by accident), so they teleport to you. All you have to do is to get on something and drive away, they have no way of chasing you.
3. You cannot look cool. Choice for clothing is abysmal and there is absolutely no good looking head gear. Face gear - sure, you can find something cool, but all hats are ridiculous. I always ended up looking like a fool or a pimp wannabe even though I chose "Corpo" profile and I wanted to stick to elegant clothes. I had crafting as my first maxed out tree and I could not craft anything looking cool, even after hours of recipe hunt.
4. Crafting is very bad. I finished entire game, all stories, all NCPD alerts, all gang activities and I still could not gather enough mats to hit crafting level 20 in a legit way. I had to setup a macro on my mouse to convert 1000s of lower mats into higher level mats as this is a stupid chore.
5. Driving and minimap is a joke as well. Driving feels like iceskatting and combined with bad minimap design you keep missing turns. Cars are very hard to control.
I hope for the best, will see how it will turn out after patches. They need add things they promised as well to fix this game.
Finished my first playthrough, tried multiple ends and realized just how much this game is giving out too much negative vibes - basically anything you did was pointless and not worthy. I know, it is supposed to be dirty cyberpunk world, but I think CDPR gone too far and made everything unneccesarily gloomy.
It is shame having to say it, but this game is huge downfall for CDPR back from when they released Witcher 3. If you still want to try this game I would strongly recommend waiting for massive sale discount, I just do not feel like I got what I paid for.
Honestly, I do not think patches can fix up this to that extent so the rating of the game would increase, even after the patches the game would be giving out weird vibes as I wrote above.
I hope CDPR will return back on top of what they do best with new Witcher game. I still have hope in that. This "not too successfull" game will hopefully open their eyes.
All issues aside, this game reminiss me of HD Fallout : they can't decide between FPS shooter and RPG. You end up having ridiculous combat of NPC with weird pathfinding and what appears as lethal guns but despite headshooting someone 15 times, he won't die.
Those games ought to have a light mode for people who just want to open a FPS-Openworld and the narrative, with people dying from lethal wounds instead of being an ammo scourge.
