Amazing conept, idea, art, in general. But needs to be finished! I´m gonna re buy it when it is, for now I asked for a refund. Hell, I wanted this so bad, such a shame. It´s bittersweet.
First of all - I'm a Linux user. Took me a few Mesa/Wine-Tkg builds to get the game running perfectly fine with some audio issues, which seem to be a problem for the windows version as well.
The game: I knew a very different experience was to be expected, compared to previous CDPR titles and this is perfectly OK. However I did not expect yet another GTA clone. This is fine as well, but lowered my enthusiasm.
On my first play-through I was constantly building up ideas in my head like having new/mixed/altered skills and perks, because of the new traveler in your head. Switching between V and Johnny in mid-fight, something... nope - did not happen (besides a few story moments).
It was disappointing that instead of having fun with Jackie for 6 months and actually getting to know some of the main characters, you get a 2 min "flash-forward" movie. I have a strong suspicion that this part of the game will be released as additional content at some point.
Skills, perks - more or less useless. I did 3 play-troughs on normal, hard and very-hard with different builds and generally different approaches to any of the challenges the game has to offer. The fun part of the game is super deeply hidden and for all the hours invested, the ONLY challenging section on any difficulty was between level 9 and 14. After this is just smooth sailing.
Night city is somewhat impressive, but if you take out the side and main missions out you just get a driving sim and boring brawls with the same 3 types of enemies. There no deeper involvement with any of the fixers, besides the ones required for the main mission.
The main story is pretty cool at the beginning, but it becomes rather anticlimactic when you suddenly reach the "point of no return".
This is not how RPGs work. Being forced into abstract choices between bad and very bad is not really a choice. The build-up to get there is not really satisfying. All i can do is to hope for the full game content to be released at some point.
I spent more time in the game than I would like to justify refund. The game still draws me once in a while. That said I feel bad for spending money on it at this point of 30 hours in.
There is a lot of noise about bugs, but this is not the problem at all. I am a person who enjoys random glitches and exploiting them for fun. The game is unfinished and at the end of 2020 still so.
There could be some discussion on how can I know that, but the evidence piles on as systems do not talk to each other and sandbox is isolated to small grids of areas of interest.
You will find aspects of this games great while wondering what you could have supported with your wallet instead.
I think that this game in its current state is a start. Not the best by far, but with so much material to be worked with and the huge modding community as a backer, things could be worse but the game is definitely in a very precarious position at the moment.
The outer shell is beautiful and intriguing for the most part, but as many have pointed out and as I have found out myself during my 100hrs playtime so far, that is as far as the content goes at the moment. Deeper substance is lacking severily. Hopefully this is mainly due to hurry to launch the game for the holiday markets in hopes of greater sales. While this has been seemingly achieved, now comes the hard part of fixing and putting things back into the game that was promised. I have no doubt that in due time this game will be as beautiful in the inside as it is on the outside and much of what is missing will be put into place for a truly marvelous game.
I remain hopeful that developers will be given the time and resources to work with the game to their hearts' content in the foreseeable future for as long as they deem it necessary.
...that wants to be an RPG.
I am really confused by Cyberpunk. In the current state I would not recommend this game.
The issue, even if they fix the technical problems, it is not really an RPG. I will give the game a second chance in late 2021, but for now I´m done.
