If the No Man’s Sky devs can take that from a 1 to a 10, then I have no doubt that CDPR can eventually make this into the game it was always meant to be. It may mean even more waiting, but at least we have something to play in the meantime. I’m not going to excuse the bugs and graphical glitches because this game has been in development for eternity, and making the game functional should be the first priority. I will finish the main story and then put the game down for a while and check back in maybe six months down the road and see what has been updated. As the game improves over time, I will adjust my rating accordingly.
The hype was huge, and the game did not deliver, as expected...
1. Like every modern game to this date, the physics sucks big time, the only game that managed to do it right is GTA 5 and RDR 2, don't get me wrong, the graphics are awesome and all but that's about it.
2. The shooting is bad, it feels like it came straight from borderlands, bullet sponge, unkillable NPC, and higher the difficulty, the worst it gets, at that point you just use overpowered multiplier damage to get through enemies.
3. The dialogue options feels too cringey sometimes for the lifepath chosen. like why the fuck a Corpo is friend with a low class Jackie Welles? why the hell does she want to get in the major league again after being fucked by the "big leagues"? The only lifepath that fits into the story is Street Kid.
4. I've played 60 hours already, and the gameplay is weird, it doesn't feel too realistic, every actions boils down to: "my friend died, must be enemy somewhere".
The enemy quotes feels to comical, like hell no, I won't come out after I killed your buddy The MaxTac which is "Night City Swats" comes in desert in the middle of nowhere after having killed a group of nomads...
5. I expected to be able to explore every interior on a building to a certain degree, but instead, there are 2 to 3 floor maximum available to explore. Let's not lie to ourselves, the game is definitely not as big as RDR2, buuuut, every interiors is different, so good enough I guess?
6. Game crafting is clunky, like why the hell should I click 30 minutes on upgrading 4000 materials... and you can't even upgrade all of them, just the "crafting parts", not the quickhack or upgrade parts...
Everything else feels okay at best with some bug here and there.
Overall great Fallout/GTA SA/Boderlands game!
The history is very very good. It cathed me and I coudn't stop playing but, the best part of the game is the shortest without a doubt. It is too short, The Witcher 3 was very long but this is an insult to me.
The world is impresive, my words are not enough to describe all the wonders that you can see. But that is all. The world is alive on scripting actions, jobs, quest, etc but when you are alone in the city the environment is dead. You can do nothing, street food stall are fake, you can't sit on a simple chair, the npcs are like ghost... etc All the little details you can imagine are not in the game.
But yeah, 3 stars because If the game wasn't a open world game, only the history path will be a fantastic game.
8 years, for this... I don't understand. I will never trust any video game company again.
I tried not to buy into the hype. Despite owning The Witcher 1-3 I thought they were just OK. I was super stoked on the setting and was hoping to play as a nethacking stealth sniper. Game starts... one mission in your backstory... cutscene... boom you're in Night City. Spent about 16 hours running around doing side missions and trying things out. Minor bugs at that point, missing AI features, rudimentary combat. Stealth is tedious to the point where it's literally easier to run in and hit everyone with a bat. There's no benefit to going stealth, to finishing without aggroing, to trying a no-kill run. If you're spotted everyone is instantly alerted (which kinda makes sense if everyone's networked) but it shouldn't work that way if I'm hacking everyone, trying to take them off the network or blind them. Melee is super basic. Shooting is ok, guns feel fine but don't really feel any different from one another. Every car and motorcycle basically handles the same and that's not great.
Then I tried to get back to the story... meaning I was 3 or 4 missions in? Stuck for two days trying to do the Maelstrom mission. If it wasn't a crash to desktop it was enemies getting stuck in the wall and still shooting us or allies walking in front of me and blocking all my shots. Finally get through that mission without a crash I finished it off without doing the bonus objective. There was no consequence to any of the choices I made leading up to or in that mission. Save it because crashes. Go back to my apartment to sort gear and get rid of stuff - which is tedious as hell. You get SO MANY slightly different versions of the exact same guns and the sorting options they have don't do very well of making it any less tedious. Thought I'd be really into crafting but you get minor upgrades so fast it's pointless. Walk out of my apartment where the cops who've been detaining for 2 days insta aggro and end me. I lose all the time I took sorting my inventory. I'm over it.
