Dissapointingly average.

There are multiple bugs and glitches, some of them quest breaking and requires either a reload or completely closing the game. Graphical glitches that get stuck on your screen, and needs a reload to remove. Suddenly dying from jumping over an obstacle, and cars that spawn inside your car. I could go on but the bugs and glitches are far from the real problem of this game which is gameplay. -Average shooting mechanics -Terrible enemy A.I that just stand around not worrying about their lives. -Boring perk tree that has a very specific perks that won't allow you to make a certain character build. -The driving is ridiculously bad (I know it's not a racing game but it's impossible to drive properly in this game. -The story is okay, Characters are pretty good and voice acting is spot on too. -The decisions you make in this game barely matters at the end. -There is a quest that could end up messing up and entire faction but somehow that doesn't affect the ending at all. -The gangs of night city, with an exception to one, doesn't matter at all as there is no option to ally with them or no specific side quest that revolves around them. -No other activities aside from shooting people in the face. The story is linear and won't feel like you become a legend of Night City at the end This game doesn't feel like it came out in this era, with exceptions to graphics, it tries to be so many things at once and fails to be average on most of them. This game just doesn't compare with the games currently available right now. This ain't it choom. The story is linear and won't feel like you become a legend of Night City at the end

A hollow, one time ride

I've played the game on release and then the second time right now with 2.1 patch update. I can't understand CDPR marketing claims that this is a fixed game now. Only within 2 hours of game time I had several hard crashes (mostly when tinkering with DLSS settings - I have 4090 and wanted to try out new ray tracing and DLSS options). I've fallen under the map - during fights while dashing, in elevators when reading text messages, or when driving cars. NPCs still tend to sit in the air or move through walls. Inventory item tooltips are still getting bugged, and only show currently equipped weapon instead of the item you selected. Bugs aside, game main issues are still there, that being: - no exploration - as there is nothing to explore. Night City is just a board to put buildings (which all look and feel the same) for gigs to happen in (which also are basically the same thing over and over again). - character progression feels so irrelevant. You will be leveling so fast you won't be able to tell whether those levels impact anything at all. Putting points in stats and then wondering whether anything increased at all. And yea, enemy level scaling is just such a lazy way of making poorly designed encounters (by poorly, I mean no enemy variation at all) drag on. - no meaningful choices and consequences, - no likeable characters. The game characters feel like they were designed to be a one time appearance for a single episode of Law and Order rather than a RPG game. There is no relation between them and for the most part with V himself. For most of the in-game time the only interactions with them will pertain to some gig they will have you do, rather than the main story. And when you do actually push the story, their involvement will be limited to sending you a text message that they worry about you. Johnny while greatly designed character, feels really incohesive due to the scenes that develop his relation with V being randomly thrown out on the map. 6/10

Ambivalent

Story was enjoyable and main characters were good. Soundtrack good. The world was pretty but felt empty/lifeless due to terrible AI and lack of interactivity. Speaking of AI, it really is terrible, genuinely reminds me of GTA 3. Side quests for the most part are boring and NCPD scanner side missions felt like work in the end. It's buggy but not unplayable. Game totally lacks many things marketed such as branching storylines, there is some minor branching but not to the level they sold. Key binding is annoying, driving not fun. Would have given a 3 if not for missing content/bugs/lies. Nothing groundbreaking or "next-gen" just a bog standard open world map clearing simulator with a good sountrack/setting/story. Wait for a fix/additional content & a sale.

I've got a gripe with the story

Let's get this out of the way - bugs. Way too many and it's pitiful, but for me merely annoying. Can be easly fixed too. My real gripe with the game is the story. Tu put it blantly - it's WAY TOO SHORT AND SIMPLE. There are quite a few interesting characters, but we do not get nearly enough time to get to know them, to connect with them. Make us give a f%$#. Pacing is too fast, and the fact that the story is based around (possible spoiler): another unconvincing race against time (end of possible spoiler) makes things feel cheap. The game needs more characterisation, more depth and nuance. This setting and these characters beg for more sophisticated story. And that cannot be solved with few simple patches.

CDPR: "PC-gamers suck!"

There's a lot to love about the game and a fricking ton of potential, if CDPR keeps supporting the game and adding stuff. I, for one, love the atmosphere, I spent a good while walking from quest to quest just because I was enjoying the scenery, the variety in the in-world ads and all that. The city does, at least at first, feel like it's bustling with life. The game doesn't do anything new or interesting mechanics-wise; it's just a pretty typical FPSRPG aside from the world the game is set in and won't cause anyone to go "wow, why doesn't any other game do this?!" Still, it doesn't matter that much, as what's there is competent-enough. I would recommend the game, even with the huge number of bugs and all, except keyboard+mouse - users are getting shafted again, with broken keybindings, broken UI, everything having been designed for console-gamers first-and-foremost and kb+m being barely an afterthought. Heck, CDPR themselves say that even PC-gamers should use a gamepad to play the game! (Though, conveniently, the store-page omits any such notions!)
