First of all, GTA is like a beggar compared with cyberpunk. The richness of the game world, driving shooting feel much better. Second, it's better than witcher 3. Over time, the game will get better.
There isn't much to say. At the moment of this post, the game has some bugs and performance issuses. Other than that, It is an amazing experience. The story is intriguing and about as Cyber and or Punk as it gets in a game. The RPG elements are there with skill sets that are customizable, and you approach in-world situations how you want to.
The characters are freaking fantastic and are proof of the talented writers at CDPR. The romance characters are so damn good but are so damn limited in their content. You want more booty.....but there isn't enough of it. Limitations of game design, what can you do? The story is enthralling and emotional at times. There are definite inspirations from other Cyberpunk media, but most of it is sourced from the amazing talents of the world creator Mr. Mike Pondsmith. A collaborration that is Preem.
I love every ounce of this game and it's world. I haven't been this immersed since Elder Scrolls V in 2011. Thank you to CDPR and Mike Pondsmith for creating what has been a fantasy for me since 2001 after playing GTA III. This is my favorite game ever and it could be yours as well if you look past the technical faults and play it on proper hardware.
...Lack of optimization and polish
-Optimization: some drop of fps, even with a decent configuration (GTX1080 with everything needed to avoid bottleneck)
-Polish: some things that feel stupid. Ex: at some point a nomad camp is moving, but they forget to clean the old place: there are stuff floating here and there or people that seems to enjoy sitting in thin air around an invisible campfire.
There are also some strange bug (floating sign), but all of those are RARE.
And that the most important thing to remember, because on the other hand:
-Graphics are awesome
-Gameplay depending on choice (classic FPS, smart weapon, CQC, tech weapon that shot through cover, hacker...)
-Open world filled with life
-Very quick to load for an open world (really, it's not comon and noticable)
-Quest design and writting: have to make a point here: if you follow straight the main campaign, you'll miss this, but the writting is just marvelous. Side quest bring so much to the game in terms of relationship between V and Johnny, but also change them depending on how you manage it.
It's could be epic, fun, sad, strange, gross, desturbing, totally f***ed up... But you'll feel with the narative, just don't skip the side quests!
-Loot design
-Crew seems responsive to the worst of bugs (they already made a pass on optimization and wipe quickly the saving limit bug)
-Musics are great and numerous, with lots of variety
-Character customization is nice, allowing lot's of style and genre
-Vehicules are great too (for people that like that aspect)
Honestly, facing what I like and didn't in this game, I can say he don't deserve the backlash he face.
Expactation were high, and as usual, when it's not perfect, people overreact.
This game is not perfect, but from where I am, it's just a matter of polish patch mostly. There is nothing to really add or remove to the game at this time, and that what matter most.
(1.06 patched as of me writing this)
I'm having a blast, and I actually switch between Mouse and Keyboard when on foot, and a controller when driving, (and I very much enjoy driving in this game), So I do not get what peoples problems with the controls are. I mean, until the analogue haptic feedback Keyboard gets invented, driving with a keyboard is almost always going to suck.
Is it missing features? yes. Would I like to see more put in it? Obviously....police chases.....NPCs on motorbikes........less clothes clipping........missing missions...............BUT, when I am just jamming on it, I forget all that and just dig the hell out of it. Granted, the fact I am running it on a 3800x coupled with an RTX 2080 Super, and 64 gb of pretty decent ram out the gate might be helping my experience.....but it has been a fun as hell experience so far, and I am taking my time with it. REALLY looking forward to seeing how they tighten things up over time, and what they end up adding post feedback that perhaps they might not have considered before.
The game is really very cool. The prologue is excellent, setting up the story in a new and interesting way. I’m enjoying the gun play, the smoothness and beauty of the game engine. It’s really fun. The graphics and art are excellent.
For me, this game greatly improves on cd projekt red’s method. The dialogue is not long winded and drawn out like Witcher. It is quick and witty. The cut scenes are enjoyable.
On my GTX 1080, i9 10900, 32gb ddr4 3200,the game is fast, stable, beautiful and smooth. Moderately high settings and 1440 resolution.
