Finally a game I WANT to play over&over

As the title says, a game I DID play over and over again). I waited a year for the game to get full keyboard cfg bindings b4 playing. SO pleased that it was not just another Witcher game, but something that I WANTED to play until completion (something that CANT be said for the last 5 games I have 'tried' to play, and never get 1/4 the way through them). I was expecting a different game, as I had been following the game from the time that it was announced by CDPR, but man when everyone said that the game was nothing like what it was sup[posed to be, I felt let down (I didnt want to know a thing about the game until I played it, so didnt watch any trailers, gameplay, and wouldnt let me friends tell me about the game, I just came here to see if the keyboard and mouse issues were fixed or not yet). But, when I actually played it, MAN OH MAN, I could not put it down! Its the 1st game that I have not been able to put down after starting it, since, well, let me think... Sniper Elite 4? And before that was the 2013 Tomb Raider I think. I didnt care that I wasnt a bounty hunter, or that it was not a Witcher or Stalker clone, or the MANY things it WASNT, because what it WAS was FUN! It is fun, funny, depressing, exciting, sexy, nauseating (taste sometimes), inventive (I dont think I have ever played a game with all of these, or even half of these mechanics to them), good looking (except where the pre-patch 1.5 bug glitches were), I thought the dialog was very well done (and oh am I glad to NOT have to read through 2 1/2 million little letters to get a story), and even some of the bugs I enjoyed (visual). Sure, it isnt the game we all THOUGHT it was going to be, but to me it was even better: pure FUN to play. I hope the next CDPR 'fails' me in the same way that 2077 did, as I will play the heck out of that one also if it is as fun as 2077 was.

Suprisingly Good

After the dabacle of a launch I really wasn't too keen on trying this game but, after I finally got around to the Witcher I was interested in trying something else. I'd also seen a bunch of people praising the state of the game now so I decided to give it a shot. And I'd dare to say its one of the best games I've ever played. Truly interesting characters with proper development and good dialouge. And the setting of a futuristic stylized take on the west coast is pretty cool. So I guess to start the story is really quite something. Without spoiling it, it really has some of the best writing in gaming IMO. It really does just sound and feel like you're talking to someone real. I even noticed characters overlap dialouge when arguing and not waiting their turn for their line. Something small but, really adds to the experience. And relationships really progress and you learn their strengths and flaws and can affect dialouge choices which is nice. I'd say the biggest disapointment with the story is probably the length. I mean I put 40 hours into my save but, I was always scrounging for more. I really wanted more missions and stuff with these characters. However dumb as it may sound I even started to care for them. Moving onto the general gameplay was actually pretty solid. At first I though the game had really bullet spongey enemies but, after a bit and realizing that the Reflex skill tree is like essential if you want to do damage. I'd recommend perking into Handguns cause, I noticed that most of the time you get more legendary handguns than you do anything else. Another thing I wish to touch on is skills. Now in Cyberpunk 2077 you have a skill tree. It's sperarted in the same vien as something like Dungeons & Dragons or any other boardgame (I'd assume that this is the same for Cyberpunk 2020.) Almost all of these skill trees affects dialouge in some way but, it's usually just an alternate path to the same ending from what I've seen. Well there's the word limit, CYA.

Purchased in late 2022, very enjoyable.

I am enjoying my time in Night City quite a bit. I am the type to explore every facet of a game and have played for 50+ hours total so far with easily 20+ hours bombing around the city just before the last story mission just cleaning up all the little extras. It seems this game has been patched and improved a lot judging from previous reviews here. The combat is very fluid and the upgrades are fun. There are many different ways to approach situations, which makes it a lot of fun. You are not locked into any one path either during your playthrough. Lots of little side interactions that go on in Night City to just explore as well, without really being able to interact with them. You can just eavesdrop or read the shard entries as you find them to piece the stories together. Why 4/5 stars? Still a few bugs and oddities. Teleporting cars, disappearing people and corpses... Sometimes the saving game can get hung up. The game still saves fine, but you just cant view the save or load list for some reason and either have to wait until whatever is being hung up to resolve or else restart the game. I would say a damn good effort on polishing the game after the release though, so well done CD PROJEKT.
