The game is far from perfect, but I believe it can be patched up relatively quickly for accessibility options and removal of certain bugs. The graphics are fantastic (though a bit slow to load on my build, oh well) and the story is engaging. The only real complaint I have is that the game is constantly throwing new characters and jobs at you in an open-world setting so fast that it's sort of overwhelming. I never know what to do next, but I also think it's pretty cool that you just kinda stumble into new activities. There's very little "rest" time between it all.
I have to admit during the first few hours of the game I basically had that 7/10 initial score in my head. The world itself and all the detail, love and care you could see in it was a definite 10, but the glitches and bugs that were ripping me out of the immersion I had to knock down a few rungs. I was about to just stop playing and wait for a few patches to clean those things up a tad. The T-Pose NPCs, the NPCs clipping through stuff, NPCs floating, inability to pick up some of the interactable items and the list goes on. My main thought was everything about the game was SO GOOD that these lack of polish annoyances were just glaring and I expected a game with the amount of polish that you could literally eat off it.
But now that I've played for about 12-13 hours I have to say the story is amazing, the world is amazing. I just like wandering around the streets. I still see those glitches time to time but I don't care about them quite as much as I did at the beginning. Took some time for me to let them go.
Performance is not GREAT, but my hardware isn't super powerful so I wasn't expecting it to be with this level of detail. The game looks AMAZING. I do get down to the bottom level of FPS I would consider at times in some areas of the city but it isn't the end of the world and it's good enough to continue enjoying it. I'd raise my score back up to 9/10 now that I've been playing and gotten a ways into the story. I'm sure with a little patching and optimization this is going to be my GOTY for sure.
I finished the game around yesterday. I am pretty satisfied with the game in general (despite the bugs, but I have faith in CDPR.)
Two things particularly bug me.
First, when I was exploring the city, I triggered the quest where I need to talk to an old Silverhand fans who’s a record seller. Later on, right after I get laid with Judy, I received a message from an old samurai band member and starts the concert in a livehouse. Of course a music fan like me tried to notify the old man and invite Judy to the livehouse. I went to the market and talk to the record seller and he just like "....?"
I was upset when I didn't see him and her during the show. (Let's say Judy might not be interested but I really want to see the dude. )
Second, I tried to talk to ramdom npc while Silverhand/V on the stage and the audiences were only saying "the weather is good." or "don't bother me."
In addition, I also tried to talk to ramdom npc when I almost finished the game, after I "replaced" Rogue became the boss in that bar. Their reaction just like they don't know me.
I know I am asking too much but I sincerely wish CDPR and add more detail to improve things like this.
P.S. There's still quests I couldn't finished due to the bug, even I installed the latest update, 1.04.
P.S.S. CDPR, thank you for bring this game to us but please improve the details.
P.S.S.S. The "future VR (幻夢,I play with Chinese sub so I am not sure the real name )" thing is an awesome setting, but I am sad that I can only exprience it whild finishing certain quest.
P.S.S.S.S. I already link my GOG account with my PS account but it doesn't show in my GOG games list.
The Story and World have realy sucked me in so far, i with both of my play sessions so far toataling 10hrs each.
so far all the bugs i have encounterd have been both minor and hilarious, like an NPC spawning then sliding out of the cafe in the middle of a serious conversation.
my only negative of the game so far is the driving the sterring seems either to stiff or to responsive whenever i want to list to the left or right i find my self doing a sharp turn if i tap the turn buttton.
the world is great i find NPC's react to what the character is doing, like cutting in line to talk to Delamin or climbing out the window at Fingers's clinic.
all in all a great game look forward to playing it more
