All chromed up, kick's still lacking...

I genuinely don't believe Cyberpunk deserves all the flak it gets, but it certainly merits some. And I get the impression this feeling of letdown hanging about it comes from two main reasons: a.) Unrealistic expectations people placed on it, as if awaiting some sentient AI messiah to descend from above and enlighten them to the meaning of life... uh, it's just a videogame, guys. b.) CDPR thoughtlessly fueling this hype and repeatedly making promises about what this game will be and will be about, but falling severely short. Yeah, "work in progress" and all that, but... come on. Barely anything seen in the presentations made it to the final game without getting chopped in some way or outright nuked. In the end, Cyberpunk fails not for being a horrendously bad game - it's far from that, actually - , but for the hinted potential that was never fulfilled. The story is a Cyberpunk story, gripping and emotionally engaging, the characters are great and very human - Panam is heartwarming to romance, and hilarious to piss off, for one. Night City looks gorgeous with an amazing atmosphere... an overall excellent cinematic experience. But for every awesome moment, there are several moments of shoddy gameplay and dumb design choices. Skiddy-floaty driving, boring +% type of skill progression, choices not having an impact outside flavor, idiotic menu design, lackluster customization... I mean, you can stick a dick on a chick in the character creator, which I'm sure is very progressive, but you can't change your hairstyle after starting the game. In a world of body-modification fetish. Duuuuuh. As if the game was trying too hard to be Saint's Row, Borderlands, Uncharted and Splinter Cell at the same time... it should have just been Ghost of Tsushima. Ultimately, it's like the promise of Night City itself. Big dreams and illusions... but what you're looking for is just not all there. The saving grace being the hot nomad chick riding shotgun in your tank on the way out.

Game is amazing, But it has some bugs

First of all I want to say this game is amazing! The level of lore and thought involved in this game is outstanding, I highly recommend reading and taking your time as you play, look around, read shards and computer messages. My review is of current patch 1.06. My system is i7 5700HQ GTX 970m I run it on a custom graphics setting. Mostly medium, some shadow settings on Low and textures on High. I get around 40-50 fps. Gameplay - 9/10 Gameplay is a lot of fun, there is many ways to play, stealth, Mele weapons, hand to hand, Pistol, Rifle/Assault weapons. I recommend changing your controller/ mouse setting to your preferences. Eg sensitivity. Guns feel great, I mainly use a pistol build personally but have tried them all. Weapons have a unique feel and sound and offer different gameplay depending on Tech or Power weapons. Smart weapons are different and personally, I use them only in trouble as I prefer to aim. Perks and Attributes, Mods and Cyberwear 8/10 Perks offer a range of ability to play your own style. There is many paths and all seam to be fun. You can combine Cyberwear and Mods to enhance your style you chose to play. Visuals 7-10 I gave this a slightly lower rating and you can say it's due to my system, but after seeing many others that play it's a common occurrence. There are some glitches in the game, some with visuals, eg cutscene glitches, weapons disappearing, lighting issues. But overall this game is amazing! Driving 6/10 Driving, like many games aren't perfect, in fact is some ways and this happens a lot. GTAV still has some of the best open-world driving mechanics. Small issues here affecting it. Effects such as Tyres blowing up on burnouts/ shooting them should be added and different animation when hit by a vehicle. Overall 8/10 I would class this as a pre-build. I highly recommend this game, the gameplay is a lot of fun, lots of stuff to do, great story, awesome characters in the world. Visual effects will only get better with patches.

A fun, albeit flawed, experience.

To start off, is it perfect...absolutely not. While the game was extremely buggy at release, and is still pretty buggy at this point, I have played many games that were much worse than this. While the occasional graphical or sound glitch (generally surrounding plot points) does need to be fixed by quitting to the main menu and reloading, they are not frequent and the game can be played through them if you are really in the zone. So far, I have only had two bugs occur that made it impossible to progress without reloading the game and both instances involved enemies clipping into walls. The controls are a bit of a pain as the button to skip dialogue is the same button to crouch and the quick sets could have been implemented better. Otherwise, the game handles pretty smoothly. There also seems to be some inconsistency with the choices as characters will reference the opposite choices from what you have made later in the game. Not game breaking, but odd. Graphics, apart from the few previously mentioned glitches, are amazing. I am playing this using GeForce Now on a Chromebook and the visuals are great with steady frame rates. Overall, I am really satisfied with the main story line and there is a good variety of side jobs to work through. The characters are well written and the story is very immersive although the main quest line up to the point of no return is a bit shorter than I had anticipated. Regardless, I would very much recommend this game and would still count it as one of the best I have played in my thirty years of gaming.

Great game from my experience

This game is all that I have been waiting on. My expectations were not let down. I have seen small bugs, but nothing gamebreaking. The closest I got was a issue with the main story line that a simple exit and reload save fixed. I am currently working on my second playthough and am enjoying all the things I missed the first time around.

Great Story with flaws - Honest review

First off, to get it out of the way: This will not be a review, that takes into account the bad launch with bugs and especially the console editions on basic PS4 and Xbox one, which clearly should have not been released. This review will solely focus on the game how it is released now as of patch 1.06 on PC. I had a lot of crashes with the initial release version, but this got patched fairly quickly. My specs: i7 4990K - 32GB - RX580 8GB - playing at 1920 x 1200 resolution on high / med graphics i got around 45 fps. Start of the game: The game starts spectacular with a dense story and a very intriguing intro. I played as a corpo agent - you can choose between three different backgrounds of your character, which will all result in a different initial storyline, which will later merge into the main storyline and only offer a few different dialogue options, to differentiate your character in dialog from the other options: street kid and nomad. The first missions are pretty challenging but not too hard at all (I played on hard difficulty). Midgame: The story still is intriguing, but there is too many missions that are pretty easy and not very memorable. There is not enough creativity involved and many missions feel like a grind, while there is some that are well designed and interesting - e.g. River missions, Panam Missions, Missions involving Silverhand, missions involving BDs. Most of the main quests are very well designed and have very good cut-scenes. There is too much of a quality difference here between the quests to be honest. I would have rather had less quests, but a higher quality of them overall. Endgame: The endgame is pretty short and I played through two of the possible endings. While not bad, compared to the spectacular opening of the game, the ending feels too short. Cons: Gameplay too shallow for an open world, no minigames, NPCs not interactive, quests too repetitive, choices don't matter much Pros: Story, graphics, immersion, voice acting
