Yes, this game has bugs. Yes, we didn't receive some of the promised features. But goddamn if it is not an AWESOME game.
Graphics, music, gunplay, hacking, story, side quest story, etc... - this game has so much from the good side. I just cannot give it a bad mark.
I believe that it will be fixed in a couple of months and will be even better.
First of all, I was not on the hype train. I didn't watched any trailers or read any articles, before I started the game. So I don't know what was promised and what not. I only got it because all the negative stuff I've heard, and wanted to check it out, if it's really that bad.
The only expectation I had towards the game is to get a story focused rpg, set in a cyberpunk world.
And damn I got it.
Overall the feeling of playing the game is like when I played The Witcher 3.
The gameplay in itself is noting special or innovative, but it's fun enough to not set me back. For me the story drives the game forward.
I enjoy the main story and the side quest, and topping it with the great sound design and soundtrack make a really nice experience.
But have to say that some of the controlls on keyboard/mouse is questionable and sometimes inconsistent.
(Sometimes you use the "f" key to do something in your inventory and sometimes you have to use the "r" key, and I don't really see why. Also the "double tap for dash" is something that I never use, because it's so not handy. Why not double tap the Shift, while holding the directional button?)
Had to remap quite a few buttons, to make it comfortable, but it still takes some time to get used to it.
Also as everyone else said, there are bugs. Thankfully I didn't met any gamebreaking one, during my gametime.
The one I meet the most is (it's still pretty rare), when you can't fire your gun, while aiming, but a reload always solved that. So it's not something, that cripples my gameplay that much.
Honestly my "biggest" problem, is that I can't hide the headpiece I'm wearing and that there's no way to tweak your appeariance (like the style/color of your hair) later in the game.
Overall the game could've used a bit more time in the oven, but I'm pretty sure they'll iron out the most of it.
I can only play the game for less than 1 hour until it crashes. I love the "cyberpunk" setting, but at this state the game looks incomplete and amateur
I used to love CD Projekt, but after this game, their reputation just went downhill
I will give a few months before trying the game again and let's see if there's any improvement. If if does, I will update my review
I`ve spend in the game around 120h finishing with several endings doing almost everything that I could find.
I`ll focus on the story which won`t be fixed. The story content the main and side is very good and high quality but it has some awful problems that I didn`t expect to get :
- cars to buy are shown with the same icon on map as a side mission/ contracts which is annoying
- in act 1 the part with Jackie is cut off (missing 3-5h of gameplay!) , looks like a decision during the production. This is a problem because I don`t feel any attention to him, to his problems ect. and he should be my best buddy. there should be at least 2-3 side-missions with him.
- all endings which are interesting take about 8-10h of gameplay while the rest of main story is about 17h. I wish devs focused more on the sidequests on the begining of this game and paths.
- lack of balance between contracts vs sidequests vs mainquests spreadout.
Contracts are missions with not much story familiar to deus ex, no decissions to make that will influence the story, mostly killing enemies for exp and money.
In act 1 you get no side quests but like 15-20 contracts (you feel that you play an action game not a story telling game!).
In act 2 you get full map with about 50-60 contracts ready to be done and only few side quests unlocked at first. Every finished branch of mainquest in act 2 will give you some new side missions (around 15). After you finish act 2 and you`re only one step from finishing the whole game you get like 10-15 additional sidequests!
So there is no balance the first 30-40h you spend mostly on contracts (only action game).
Then you spend 10h on main and 20h on side quests of act 2
Then you get to act 3 which is a finisher of game (and you want to know how it all ends) but suddenly you get access to additional 15 sidequests (20h)! Most of them could be presented much earlier in the game. But maybe they were also cut off from the beginning of act 2 aswell.
