After the Witcher 3 I was pumped to hear about CP2077, the trailers, the speculations, the hype, well fast forwarded to the game release and it was a total failure, the game was a total let down. Even now its in 2023, even with its all "recent addons" its still a husk of a game, nothing really interesting or innovative.
To me, this game looks great. I liked the scale, the city, side quests, almost everything. I love this genre in general, and we don't get much of it unfortunately. To me it has similar vibe to the fallout new vegas mixed with gta vice city and shadowrun.
However there's a couple of things I find really annoying about it:
* Bugs. Bugs. Bugs. It hangs, it crashes, in-game screens go blank, npcs get locked in the texture, etc.
* The city is empty. I mean, ok, there are some people around, but clearly not 6mil residents as the lore says. 6mil people is A LOT. 3-4 npcs strolling around is definitely not enough.
* NPC behavior is kinda broken. Rains heavily? Nope, no umbrellas, nobody is running not to get wet, everyone is just leisurely strolling around.
* Driving. NPCs included. People don't drive like this, cars don't behave like this. No traffic cams lol. Also, where did all parkings go? There's literally none. And as a minor note - the first car V has was made in 2020. This should be one hell of a car to keep running for 57 years.
* Some of the cutscenes don't feel natural. Like, V is riding a car which jumps HARD. People don't sit around like there's nothing, they tend to hold onto something.
* Some of the visuals are broken, like the rain. You look to the side from your car and you see a bunch of noisy artifacts around every light pole.
* You sometimes need to control yourself not to ruin the immersion. Like, not running like a madman, or not running by default. People don't do this.
A good story, complex and likeable characters; the mechanics work for me (I'm usually not into FPS games). Bought the game at the beginning and had no major bug-related issues. Even though my system's is quite old it still looks good with almost max settings overall (i7-7700 @ 3.60GHz, 16,0 GB RAM, 8GB GTX 1660 Ti), sadly haven't seen it in RTX, yet. 1000+ hours
while playing the game in 2023, i have encounter some game bugs but not game breaking bugs, i like how the story is played out and there are some instances in the story that you need to think before deciding what to do because you might miss some loot or might kill a Good story Npc.
ill give 4 for the story and creativity, 1 nega star for the bugs.
On my laptop the game has always been excellent. I never experienced all the disastrous bugs that people reported (only saw minor glitches).
After completing a playthrough I only came back to do a few remaining gigs and enjoy the city to its fullest. But I have never been attracted by a new playthrough. Too much would have been the same.
Patch 2.0 made me come back. And boy I like it. So much so that I also invested in PL.
I honestly don't understand all the hate: this game is beautiful, fun, deep. Simply put, it's a masterpiece.
