A visual novel

I wasn't interested in this during the "time of great hype," but after 1.5 came out, I've been thoroughly enamored with it. The storytelling, the many slight variations in ending, and the world itself are a sight to see, never mind the mind blowing quality of the graphics when cranked up. The combination of these qualities often brought back the exhilarating feeling of reading when I was younger, but with the interaction and role playing that video games provide. There were lots of faults with the game early on, and even the current version has random glitches at times (T-pose, odd path finding, etc), but this is definitely on my list of top games. I hope they do continue to develop this IP (alongside Mike Pondsmith and his vision for it) in the future.

A fun time

Cyberpunk 2077 is a pretty good game. While it may be technically demanding and filled with many graphical bugs and other mishaps worthy of a bethesda game. I really enjoyed playing it, even on my old 1060 card. The writing, story and character work is stellar and all of the voice actors are doing an amazing job. Gunplay isn't as nice as some other modern day shooters but the real pull for this game is the roleplaying, which I think it does very well. The endings are varied, side quests range from bog standard to truly riveting and I think the highs far outweigh the lows, build diversity is pretty alright, and it is fun to experiment with all the different weapons and cyber augments. While not as groundbreaking as the Witcher 3, I'm looking forward to future updates and dlc expansions. TL;DR I had a fun time being a cyberperson I think that's ok.

Overall great!

I was lucky enough to enjoy the game from launch with minimal issues. Some strange bugs aside, many of whom numerous, nothing really impacted my experience. I did however, play too often that I needed a bit of a break for a few weeks. At the end of it all, I was satisfied with the experience but "wanted more". Since the next gen patch though, the game has been really hard to put down and there's a very solid baseline for more. The improvements to the games core and even small additions like sleeping/showering for a stat boost (therefore giving me a reason to go back home) really heIped me appreciate the city more, instead of just jumping from gig to gig. I'd love to see the bars and restaurants fleshed out in such a way. I was thinking of giving it a 4/5 because the game in my opinion mostly needs more customization and ways to enjoy the city, but the truth is, few games keep my attention as good as this one has. I truly hope there's more to come and a great expansion. Leaving me wanting more, that I may not get is a tease, but I'm having a good time wondering about it. Also, while I'm a sucker for the theme and aesthetic, I'm amazed how good the gameplay is for the various 'styles' I've tried. The weapons themselves also are gorgeously designed. Gunfights, stealth, and melee all feel REALLY good for this sort of game.

Linux? Get the Steam Version

I bought it here and I regret it, no Linux support, but in steam it works. Go figure.

CDPR didn't give up

Now with patch 1.6 this game is awesome. Wish it was like this at launch!
