I have been staying away from the game since release, due to all the negativity on the internet. I bought the game when the update 2.0 came out and since then I am having a blast. I play on the Steam Deck. The game runs great and looks amazing. Best looking game on the Steam Deck along with Battlefront 2 (the new one).
The gameplay flows well and the city is lively and full of details. So far, I have encountered 1 bug, which was by no means game breaking and just required a reload from auto-save.
One of the best, most beautiful, most immersive, and most fun games I've ever played!
I first picked it up when patch 1.5 was released. I've since did a playthrough for each of the 3 background stories, and I'm now doing a forth playthrough on occasion of 2.02 and the DLC.
Even though it had a horrible release, this game has gotten to the point where it's extremely stable, refined and bug free. In over 600 hours of playtime I haven't had any stability issues whatsoever. I did ran into a bug which prevented a minor quest from progressing, but that bug has since been fixed. I'm running the game on windows 11, with a core i5-10400F, 16gb ram, and an RTX 3060.
Reminder that my critic based on the 1.63 version and it's without Phantom Liberty.
So...first of all. I pre-ordered this game in 2020. Had an older PC too at that time (GTX 1060 6GB) and it BARELY could run CP2077 1.0. Mostly I've got 30-40 fps, that I didn't like in most of the games (I'm a 60 fps guy). But I wanted to play this game so bad that didn't care about the performance.
At the first playthrough I reached the beginning of Act 1 and for some reason stopped playing the game. Overall I liked the game, but later (around 30 hours playtime) got enough from it. Thought that the gigs and NCPD scanners were horrendously dull, didn't like the clothes (back then there was no transmog), the skill system was uninteresting and unfortunately the framerate dropped a lot of time under 30 regardless the settings.
Fast forward to 2023, I could buy a new PC finally and thought a lot about that which game should I try on my new rig.
After 120 hours playtime I've beated the game and did all the quest/gig/NCPD scanner I could. Have to start right away with the performance. With my new rig (RX 6800 XT, 32GB RAM, Ryzen 5700X) the game ran flawlessly on high/ultra settings, on 1440p, without RT. Speaking of which, the graphics and visuals are A-MA-ZING, even without ray tracing. Most beautiful game I've ever played so far. Not just the textures and effects, but the whole city looks and feel stunning. The city designer(s) get from me a 10/10.
The main story was fine, but Witcher 3's was much more excited and interesting. The side quests was much better. I liked the characters though, especially Johnny. I still found most of the gigs and NCPD activities tedious, but this time tried to get into the game real hard as an RPG, so that helped a little. Still though, at the end I could sent to hell those gigs.
Not much to say about the soundtrack and radio songs: They are BANGERS af! One of the best OST ever.
Overall had a much better experience. The game is not perfect though.
the problems I have is that not to spoil anything but in tlibertiy city V is no longer the main protegnist instead song bird is... that also takes away from ALT as a master Net runnier.. Also the added match to your level isn't good either you shoould pick and choose how to deal with higher level NPC's Also no duel weapons as stated as an other review on here.. while the game isnt perfect it is better than BG3 read my review as you can improvise your enverment unlike BG3 and find coiver and such that isn't offered in other real time RPG. Personally the game is great and you'll have a great time if your looking for something different than the Elder scrolls sega's.
Can't wait for future updates and new area's unlocked!! there so much to take in that its amazing.. while its not for everone its alot better than most games out there but there will be hiccups and such but totally playable experaince and fun too when you can out witt your opnet is so much fun and the abliltys are great too. just fun to play GTA3 fans or Elder scroll fans should feel right at home with this one!!
Cyberpunk 2077 in it's current state (ver 2.1) is one of the best RPGs of the current generation.
It's a true shame that the game seemingly will never shake the bad blood of its botched launch, because the amount of work CD Projekt RED have done on it is truly remarkable. The Witcher 3 is my favourite game of all time, but I honestly think Cyberpunk is a better game now.
It had issues when it launched but its an incredible experience now and worth every enny
