Overly ambitious "master of none"

Let me say right away, I enjoyed the game. I have 100+ hours in it. But... And it's quite a huge and stinking butt. Developers have bitten of more than they could chew. I don't mind bugs, but there is just too much of everything in the game. Too many mechanics, too many missions, too many ways to play it, too many perks, too many weapons, too many cars, too many ways to play a game. All of them unfinished, unbalanced, cut off in the middle. There is so much of anything and none of it works. There are gangs and factions in the game which are not utilized in any way. Crafting which is rich, plentiful, boring and useless. Numbers in the stats which means absolutely nothing. Huge story which is ultimately unsatisfying and is lacking variability and consequences. All those cars I couldn't care less about, definitely not finished in any way imaginable - physics, damage, ai, whatever. Clothes, most unsatisfying clothes ever. Shiat, there are whole guides on how to reload game to get passable clothes in the shop. If the game had 1/10th of content and mechanics, mostly story, but finished, expanded, polished, with added variability - it would be ten times better. May be, 5 years later, with "director's cut", all the DLCs and shiat, I'll replay the game. May be not. Certainly not an even Witcher 3 was for me.

Fantastic Game That'll Only Get Better

I came into this game expecting a high quality narrative & character based game from CD Projekt Red, and I truly feel they delivered on that front. The game certainly has its flaws and it is by no means perfect - I've encountered many glitches, and there are certainly many systems in the game that need a lot of work, but in spite of that I can't help but love this game. The story kept me very engaged, the characters were extremely memorable, and the world was probably the most beautifully crafted I have seen in a video game to date. The side quests, too, were very fleshed out, and the combat was well executed. Overall I had a great deal of fun and I spent several days playing deep into the night because I was so immersed in the stories the game told, and that to me is a mark of a good game. All that being said, CDPR has a lot of work on their hands. They need to address non combat AI if possible, improve the police system, iron out the glitches, fix car navigation and permit key remapping. I also really hope to see CDPR flesh out the game with more mechanics come future DLCs / expansions. The potential this game holds should CDPR choose to do so is very exciting. If you can wait, this game will only get better from here, and if CDPR plays their cards right, I think this game will possibly become one of the "game of the decade" greats that people will love and play for years to come. Until then, I would still wholeheartedly recommend the game to prospective buyers, with the caveat that in its current state, you will encounter many bugs and most likely see lots of missed potential as you play through the game. Overall Score: 9/10

Good game, despite the hate

Played through everything, so I feel qualified to say the game is pretty good. Addressing some criticism: The plot is good, and the characters are good too. I think most people criticizing that have not actually played the game, or they rushed it. Combat can be sloppy, but its usually good (ever use the revolver before? Headshots are fun as hell). This game is an RPG, not having advanced RPG dialogue does not somehow change that. When did that become a requirement? This game has genuine criticism, but that isn't it. Character backgrounds could have been more. They matter in the prologue, but afterwards are dumbed down to specialized dialogue choices for your chosen background. Wasted potential there. The main story is incredible. Love Keanu Reeves in this, I was surprised how involved he is in the actual game. I really thought he'd just be a temporary character, but nope. He is there from beginning to end. The story branches off in Act 2, and is pretty long. It does an incredible job at integrating the main romances in to the main plot of the game. Panam's plotline was probably one of the best romance subplots I've seen since Star Wars KOTOR (looking at you Bastila). It left me sad that I couldn't have more, and thats a very special thing when a videogame can do that to you. As for the side content, it could be better. The map is filled with loads of police department missions (think of it like crimewatch, go here and stop these bad guys), and side missions are mostly dumbed down into things called "Gigs". They are basically repetitive missions that have been given just enough flair to seem new each time. The real side missions that have plot and are unique are pretty rare, and you usually find them through phonecalls. I feel like this is something that will be improved upon greatly through the future free DLC. Overall, great game. Its receiving a lot of hate now (some well deserved), but I think 5 years from now this will be viewed as one of the best.

Amazing game....BUT

After 150 hours of play....think I can review this game. The world that CDPR made is amazing, since the first mission the history catches you. The secondary quests have the level that Witcher 3 has to offer. The photo mode is one of the funniest things that the game have. The vehicle models are just spectacular. Gigs and NCPD quest are well plan and all have an excelent history backgroud. Personally I had bugs in the launch like everyone, but none that means a huge problem. After the 1.05 fix and all the rest 100 hours just a pair of minimal bugs. Now.... about the BAD things that I was really suprised: The boss fights made look Witcher 3 like Dark Souls in the maximum difficulty. So easy and plus the IA... I will not tell is bad but it's not so polished. And about the police wanted system...why spawn a police in your back when they can arrive in a car or with special tactical forces? or attack with combat drones? I know that the developers not want the player trolling all the time killing police and focus in the multiple quest the game have to offer, but they could save all the hate of the toxic GTA V fans with this mechanic. So finally: It's a good game with great gameplay? YES Worth a buy if you want to be in a world that doesn't care about censorship and with an amazing history and lore? YES You think it's a futuristic GTA? It's not, go back to GTA. It's the game that CDPR promited to us? Sadly NO. I hope, the futures DLC and expansion content significantly improve the game.

Pretty fun game, but has many issues

Cyberpunk 2077 has become one of my favorite FPS as gunplay is so satisfying, but it feels bad in some other points specially after the grand marketing campaign that had the game.
