An incredible story. Must play.
CDPR has created something incredibly special here. The story is phenomenal. I'm not done yet, but it is rare for a video game story to captivate me quite like this. This review will remain spoiler free, but suffice to say I have definitely been hit in the feels a few times in my first 20 hours of play. To get a few things out of the way: 1. Yes there are some bugs. 2. No, none of them are game breaking 3. No, I don't find them distracting With that said, this game is alive and I am living in Night City. V is a great character and my choices really do matter. Quite a lot actually. It's even apparent when I don't do things and outcomes would have been different/better/worse if I had. The story is what truly shines. It's a slow burn with massive payoffs. This is not a story you sprint through. The narative truly comes to life if you give it the time and explore its depth. If you were expecting another GTA clone where you can dick around doing whatever you want, honestly this isn't the game for you. While there are PLENTY of side quests and smaller activities to complete, I would not call this a sandbox. It's an RPG at it's core and heck is it a beautiful thing to behold. The graphics are amazing as well. I love Bladerunner and have been wanting to experience a universe like it on my own terms for quite some time. This is it. CDPR has created a phenomenal open world that has rich character development. From dark, empty nights in the wasteland, to bustling mid-day city centers the world is alive. If you're on the fence about this game due to the negativity online, and you are a fan of dysetopian sci-fi and like RPGs, I urge you to give it the chance it deserves. I know this is a glowing review, but I really love what I've played so far and hope others get to enjoy it too.
