Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
I bought it on premiere, paid full price.
Game was unplayable for next 12 moths while after 6 month you could buy it for 1/3 of the original price.
So I overpaid for crap I couldn't play.
Game is also to repetitive and main story is way to short.
The only good thing I can say about it is the city. It is pretty big and looks nice. But almost nothing to do in it...
Overall boring, short, overpriced, disappointment.
Good job CDP I am not going to buy any game from for full price ever again...
I am playing the game on version 1.04. The only issue I had was with the sound of running cutting out randomly. I have not have any issues with crashes others have run into. My build is entirely AMD with my card Sapphire Radeon 5700 XT. I am using the latest drivers.
Also, I am writing this review while in Act 2 (I don't know how many acts there are) and have accomplished quite a number of side quests along with the main quest in Act 2.
This game is a spiritual successor to The Witcher 3. All the underlying principles that made Witcher 3 a great game can be applied to this game.
The world in this game is absolutely phenomenal. Everywhere I went in Night City felt unique and hand crafted. All the locations the side quests and main story missions took place in never felt like copy and pasted. Night City is definitely a work of art.
The story, as far as I have completed, feels complete and fleshed out. The pacing has been consistent and chock full of details as one would expect from a CDPR game.
The characters and dialogue dynamic and realized. The conversation choices are not bland and simple as with other games of the same genre. They characters actually talk like adults rather than something out of a childrens fantasy book.
All combat paths are viable in the game. You can build your character however you want and they will all feel unique in the way you build them. In fact, mixing up the characters also work, unlike in the Witcher where you had to specialize in terms Signs, Combat, or Potions. You can specialize in this game or be a generalist with both build styles being viable. They also do not feel similar.
As I am running out of character space, I cannot say more. With all the good, there are definitely issues with Cyberpunk. The same "spiritual" defects you find in Witcher 3 are also found here. My purpose of the review was to make this comparison because I felt it appropriate and may give people a better idea of what to actually expect from this game.
I have played the game for nearly 20 hours and I am probably a quarter or a third into the story. I think this is one of the best games I have ever played and the last time I felt that was while I was playing the Witcher 3.
My main points;
1. The gameplay is very enjoyable and diverse and it is a really original take on the RPG genre. The levelling system allows you to improve your performance in combat very directly (e.g. feats can let you reload and draw a gun more quickly) and it is very diverse. I love that you can completely go stealth or go guns blazing or hack your way through or any combination in between.
2. I believe the game has overwhelming amount of content and night city is a very immersive environment. The level of detail is ridiculous at times.
3. I enjoy the story so far and I believe there are a lot of things that make it very relatable to any person out there. This is not the case for many other games where you just play the unbeatable hero (like Geralt btw). I remember playing Witcher 3 and sometimes would skip a ton of dialogue only because I wanted to see how the story unfolds, but also because I felt I cannot relate to a lot of the stuff. The world of Cyberpunk is very close to ours in many ways and I like the focus on societal issues our world is struggling with.
4. Graphics, sound and music are amazing.
Overall, this is a superb gaming experience. I believe it lives up to the expectations and the hype. Big ups to the CDPR team.
Disclaimers:
I play on PC with mid/high specs and I have not run into almost any issues, a lot of people have been complaining about. The only thing I struggled with is some sound issues, which I managed to easily fix, but they mostly relate to the fact that I use an external audio interface.
Greatest game ever created! Honestly! Never I had so much fun playing a RPG. Witcher 3 was amazing game (for me best game till this masterpiece came out) but Cyberpunk 2077 is... oh boy.... something else. Definetely the most immersive, biggest, most enjoyable RPG experience so far in gaming industry.
Story is catching, well writen, heartbreaking, You instantly have deep connection with characters. Graphics quality is jaw-dropping. I simply can't believe my own eyes when I'm roaming streets of Night City.
The choice possibilty in questlines is staggering. Sometimes I wish I could play 3 playthroughs at once just to experience multiple outcomes of my every decision. It's mind boggling how just after decision is made story hints how action would have changed if Your decision have been different. Hard to explain this feeling because it's first time game does something like this to me.
The multiple possibiliy of solving quest is remarkable same as multiple ways of developing Your character. You can use brute force and kill everyone opponet with bare hands or with white weapons or You can max Your guns and rain Your opponents with bullets of every kind, or You can hack devices to works against enemys or You can simply move quielty beetwen them without even touching them or simply taking down them gently and quietly.
Driving is very fine better than I expected, shooting is also very good. There are minor glitches or bugs but so far I haven't experienced any major or game breaking bugs. Sometimes I feel like AI could be better or more chalenging and movement of NPC could get more fine tunning. Other than that I can't say bad word about this game. If I remember corectly (it was over 5 years ago) Witcher 3 had same problems at lunch and in the end became one of greatest if not the greates RPG ever created.
As for technical performance it works like a charm for me.
It's not GTA or Call of Duty or Deus Ex and thank god it's not. It's something else, something better!
Cyberpunk was made with a lot of heart. RPG elements at its finest. You can choose how you want to play and all path work out. The verticality of the game is incredible. You can climb on everything and find sercret path everywhere. Strong story elements when you do the main quest and an incredible amount of side missions. The world feels so full.
There are some bugs in the game at launch and there will be new ones found later on. It happens with every game. The current landscape of the gaming world where you can fix bugs after the game come out with updates is the reason such huge project are even possible.
Much love and appreciation to the developers and everyone involved with making this amazing game <3
