What begins as a simple rescue mission becomes the battleground of a new war, as alien invaders swarm over a North Korean island chain. Armed with a powerful Nanosuit, you must achieve your objectives by any means necessary. Become invisible to stalk enemy patrols, or boost your strength to lay waste to vehicles. An advanced AI controls your enemies, so play smart. One wrong move out here could be your last.
Adapt to Survive – An epic story thrusts players into an ever-changing environment, forcing them to adapt their tactics and approach to conquer battlefields ranging from newly frozen jungle to zero-gravity alien environments.
Suit up – A high-tech Nanosuit allows gamers to augment their abilities in real time on the battlefield. Players can choose to enhance their speed, strength, armor and cloaking abilities to approach situations in creative tactical ways.
Customizable Weaponry – A huge arsenal of modular weaponry gives gamers unprecedented control over their play style. Blow the opposition away with experimental weapons, discover alien technology and utilize custom ammunition from incendiary-tipped rounds to tactical munitions that can silently put foes to sleep.
Veni Vidi Vici – Lifelike enemy AI challenges players to assess a situation and approach it strategically. It isn't about having the fastest trigger finger – players are challenged to be proactive in the fight, not reactive.
Zero-G Gameplay – Battle a horrifying alien species in a true Zero-gravity environment, where physics change everything as players must adapt to moving in Zero-G and contending with the recoil from their weapons and more.
Next-Generation Graphics – Built from the ground up using Crytek's proprietary CryENGINE 2™, Crysis' visuals define "state of the art," with full DX10 support and scalable options to deliver solid performance on older machines.
Open, Physicalized World – Choose your own path through the open world of Crysis, destroying obstacles, driving vehicles from VTOL's to boats and using the environment itself against your enemies.
I think this game is the mixture of Halo and Far Cry. For me this is the PC-oriented version of Halo 3 with elements from Far Cry, and I really love it.
The gameplay is so intense and full of oppurtunities. You can find so many ways to complete the tasks. The story is amazing and original. And the graphics, Jesus, this game is so beautiful, really beautiful. It came out in 2007, and games that came out last year or this year are on the same level as this in graphics.
If you like sci-fi and first person shooters or you're a fan of Halo (like me) you should try this.
10/10
I bought this game for the memories of tactical freedom. The world simulation in this game is amazing. Allow me to demonstrate with a story; One time during my first playthrough, there was a wooden hanging bridge that connected a mostly jungle area to an enemy camp. A firefight ensued and the bridge exploded in various wooden pieces onto a river below, due to a grenade going off. Enemy numbers were a little higher than expected, so the option was die or run. I dropped down to the river, climbed and went prone on one of the planks that fell from the bridge and allowed the water stream to carry me down the river past an enemy outpost, while I was using active camouflage to avoid detection.
This is one of my best gaming moments, in any game. Buy.
Crysis is one of those games I've always heard about but never got to experience. I'm just recently getting back into PC gaming after over a decade of owning workhorse PCs that couldn't run any games. With the purchase of a somewhat budget gaming laptop, I decided to give this much loved PC classic a try. Did I think it lived up to expectations? Yes and no.
Even 13 years later this game looks incredible. I can understand why it's still talked about to this day. The vistas are huge, the areas expansive, the level designs intricate with foliage, mountain ranges, waterfalls, and the like.
From a gameplay perspective, I can imagine that this blew PC players' minds upon initial release. Suit powers, cloaking abilities, weapon mods on the fly, being able to use stealth or blunt force to work your way through enemy territory.
That being said, I found the game to be needlessly difficult at times. I admit to being a mostly console/gamepad guy for a long, LONG time. I'm still trying to get used to mouse and keyboard after over a month of getting a decent gaming laptop. Still, sometimes this game just throws so much at you that I found my fingers getting extra fat and sluggish. I died often. I died constantly. It got frustrating in certain points, especially the last boss fight where ammo is at a premium and the sky is literally falling on your head.
Frustrations aside, I give that a pass. I appreciate the game for what it is: an adrenaline fueled sci fi shooter with brains that doesn't hold back and is filled with some rather spectacular set pieces. I can see why this thing was melting top end gaming rigs even ten years after release. Honestly, I'm surprised my budget level Acer was able to run it as solidly as it did. I'm also glad I gave this game a shot. It's definitely a classic.
Ive played Crysis several times recently over the past 20 months. I was an original purchaser when it was released in 2007. I was blown away with this FIRST PERSON SHOOTER by the graphics and story line. The AI is very well thought out. Weapons selection is great with the occasional "Alien technology" built in. The voice acting is fantastic (James Vincent Meredith plays the lead role "Prophet", Sean Chapman as "Psycho" and many other greats (there's a cameo voice of Steven Yeun [Glenn from The Walking Dead] as "Korean Soldier 2").
The fact that this game really taxed NEW game systems when it came out in 2007 says a lot about it's graphics. Each blade of grass moves independently, the sound is rich and intense, and although the game *IS* linear, its still a wide open space to explore. Many will say "its not linear", but it is. It gives you several directions to take in order to progress. If you don't take either one, then you are just running around playing with the scenery.
If you dont buy it now, put it on your WISHLIST and get it when it goes on sale.
