What begins as a simple rescue mission becomes the battleground of a new war, as alien invaders swarm over a North Korean island chain. Armed with a powerful Nanosuit, you must achieve your objectives by any means necessary. Become invisible to stalk enemy patrols, or boost your strength to lay waste to vehicles. An advanced AI controls your enemies, so play smart. One wrong move out here could be your last.
Adapt to Survive – An epic story thrusts players into an ever-changing environment, forcing them to adapt their tactics and approach to conquer battlefields ranging from newly frozen jungle to zero-gravity alien environments.
Suit up – A high-tech Nanosuit allows gamers to augment their abilities in real time on the battlefield. Players can choose to enhance their speed, strength, armor and cloaking abilities to approach situations in creative tactical ways.
Customizable Weaponry – A huge arsenal of modular weaponry gives gamers unprecedented control over their play style. Blow the opposition away with experimental weapons, discover alien technology and utilize custom ammunition from incendiary-tipped rounds to tactical munitions that can silently put foes to sleep.
Veni Vidi Vici – Lifelike enemy AI challenges players to assess a situation and approach it strategically. It isn't about having the fastest trigger finger – players are challenged to be proactive in the fight, not reactive.
Zero-G Gameplay – Battle a horrifying alien species in a true Zero-gravity environment, where physics change everything as players must adapt to moving in Zero-G and contending with the recoil from their weapons and more.
Next-Generation Graphics – Built from the ground up using Crytek's proprietary CryENGINE 2™, Crysis' visuals define "state of the art," with full DX10 support and scalable options to deliver solid performance on older machines.
Open, Physicalized World – Choose your own path through the open world of Crysis, destroying obstacles, driving vehicles from VTOL's to boats and using the environment itself against your enemies.
Was not sure how it runs on modern PC´s cause i had read about some problems on modern systems.. So i contacted the GOG suport before i buyed it and asked them if the reports i had read are true and they told me: There are no & there should be no issues with my System:Win10 ryzen r5 2600-nvidia gefore gtx 960 . and yep they was right. Summary.
Still looks awesome after all these Years. The Gog version runs on modern systems without any issues.
This was mostly an engine tech showcase that attempted to present all that the engine could do - be it by its environments and lighting effects or different controls schemes with vehicles.
Game does everything OK overall.
Great graphics and lasts quite a few hours, with quick load times from SSD and widescreen support so it can shine (even without mods) with its textures that -mostly- hold up to this day overall. But ultimately performance remains poor for such an old game and basically the original experience from release can be experienced on recent hardware at higher resolutions.
Gorgeous especially at 4K with everything maxed out (hitting anything from 24 and generally between to 45- 64 FPS up to 90 FPS max. 1440p gets you better FPS but barely - with 70 FPS easily reached on an AMD 5700XT.
However game wasn’t memorable; I barely recalled moments from it except the gameplay mechanics and mostly the beginning and end of the game.
Issues: Lost over an hour on a map to end up finding that there was a bug not triggering an event - reported by others as well - requiring to restart the whole level.
Got to love that I was able to kill a boss slightly after getting the issue above - by merely hitting him over and over with my fists (without Strength) without getting hit a single time. That part made my day!
In retrospective maps were way too big in particular in the jungle - but interestingly the scale of the map don’t appear to impact game performance.
To enjoy, play easier modes if you never played; at hard difficulty level the action felt quite oppressive at times and AI gets randomly quite deadly.
I had to cheese some section (sometime out of boredom) so the pace of the game might not be for everyone.
Tip: Had graphics issues and had to ALT-TAB a few times to return to the game with a fluid screen (as if there was an alternative way the game renders the visuals or problematic effects that otherwise made the screen content lag – all with the same FPS).
What? A dull shooter that brought joy to video card manufacturers. I had a friend who fried his Radeon card because the fans went like a reactor whenever this game ran.
Like i said, a dull shooter with some top secret suit, on an island, trying to admire nature but rudely interrupted by Koreans only to discover that the reason for you being there is much more "sinister" than you have ever imagined with an ending good for a Hollywood movie. It aged...well.... okey, i guess. At the time i realized this one was in the books only as a benchmark game.
The only thing to discuss about this game is that it came in 2007 and its graphics were more than impressive, yey. Story? Not worth mentioning it. Characters? Neaah. Sound? Maybe, yes. Gameplay? Nothing revolutionary even for its time but decent, and fluid with a fair amount to explore on a fair map.
Don't buy this!!!, i have Windows 11 24h2 and it doesn't work!!!
The problem exist long time ago when you look at their forum since windows 8 if i remember correctly.
The game launch black screen then crash...
And they sell you that for almost 18.3€ ! not worth it! it should be 1.8€ lol
DON'T LOOSE YOU'RE MONEY!
Seems to work for some people from 2016... but now it's 2025 right!?
Before I got my hands on Crysis I had heard a lot of praise. Therefore, I had high hopes for it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed quite a bit with the game that some claim to be legendary.
The game offers open spaces as if encouraging you to explore, but really there is no real point to do so. There is no loot, you can't get any special weapons or anything. There is no reason to not follow the main objectives.
The selection of guns is very limited, and I found most of them quite boring and unimpressive. The gunplay is quite weak in my opinion and not satisfying at all. The enemies are quite bullet spongy, while it does not take a lot to kill you.
The story, in my opinion, is not very good. Although I did like the whole ancient alien angle. The voice acting is nothing to write home about and the characters themselves are not very interesting.
On the technical side, I experienced a lot of annoying crashing without any error message. Also, I had some frame drops in some places. Not sure if it was my PC or what. I am able to run much newer games much more smoothly.
I got bored 5 hours in and decided to drop the game.
All in all, not as good as I was led to believe. I'd choose F.E.A.R. or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. over Crysis any day.
