Description
Crysis, the first game of a well-received trilogy, is a first-person shooter set in the year 2019 and the spiritual successor to Far Cry.

Download it now! and take part in a unique virtual combat experience.

What begins as a simple rescue mission becomes the battleground of a new war, as alien invaders swarm over a North Korean island chain. Armed with a powerful Nanosuit, you must achieve your objectives by any means necessary. Become invisible to stalk enemy patrols, or boost your strength to lay waste to vehicles. An advanced AI controls your enemies, so play smart. One wrong move out here could be your last.

  • Adapt to Survive – An epic story thrusts players into an ever-changing environment, forcing them to adapt their tactics and approach to conquer battlefields ranging from newly frozen jungle to zero-gravity alien environments.
  • Suit up – A high-tech Nanosuit allows gamers to augment their abilities in real time on the battlefield. Players can choose to enhance their speed, strength, armor and cloaking abilities to approach situations in creative tactical ways.
  • Customizable Weaponry – A huge arsenal of modular weaponry gives gamers unprecedented control over their play style. Blow the opposition away with experimental weapons, discover alien technology and utilize custom ammunition from incendiary-tipped rounds to tactical munitions that can silently put foes to sleep.
  • Veni Vidi Vici – Lifelike enemy AI challenges players to assess a situation and approach it strategically. It isn't about having the fastest trigger finger – players are challenged to be proactive in the fight, not reactive.
  • Zero-G Gameplay – Battle a horrifying alien species in a true Zero-gravity environment, where physics change everything as players must adapt to moving in Zero-G and contending with the recoil from their weapons and more.
  • Next-Generation Graphics – Built from the ground up using Crytek's proprietary CryENGINE 2™, Crysis' visuals define "state of the art," with full DX10 support and scalable options to deliver solid performance on older machines.
  • Open, Physicalized World – Choose your own path through the open world of Crysis, destroying obstacles, driving vehicles from VTOL's to boats and using the environment itself against your enemies.

doesnt work by scummy design imo...

...to rather make you buy the remastered version, coz devs too lazy to fix this version. loading any save crashes the game everytime. idk what changed as i was was able to play just fine without screwing around with anything earlier this year. havent uninstalled, havent changed save locations or admin name, havent removed any harddrives. appearantly there are 3rd part fixes, but i cant be bothered anymore.... you lost me. i am no longer in the mood to play this garbage

Ok

This game looks great, but the looks, for me, don't match up to my expectations in a shooter. In the end, it's more looks than bones. I don't like open world games and vast stretches of terrain, and I felt like most of the game was spent walking/running to the next place for a quick shootout before hitting the high road again for another marathon. I actually cheated and gave myself infinite sprint, because it was so tedious to walk everywhere, and that honestly helped a lot. The game became much more enjoyable when I could finally move to the next place in a timely manner. I don't care about story in a game; I value gameplay over the story, and I felt like the gameplay was lacking just enough to dock a star. I think this is a solid 4-star game. It's above average, but not excellent. The gun play is fun--fun enough that I wanted more, but that was also the problem: I didn't get more, it just barely scratched the surface. This is what makes me prefer Crysis Warhead over this game, as it has more gun fights (or at least filler space in between, which is maybe my main gripe). It frequently goes on sale and I think it's worth buying at the discounted price. I enjoyed it enough that I would recommend it, but not enough that it earns any awards in my books.

Pretty enjoyable game

Didn't care much about this game when I was younger, now looking back it's a pretty decent game. Not just graphics wise, in terms of gameplay as well. Particularly suit system and weapon customizing feature are well implemented in my opinion. On top of that, GOG didn't fail to disappoint me by providing me with a full working game strait out of the box, so I didn't have to waste my time looking for fixes which would've been the case with the steam version. Kudos to GOG for being awesome and Crytek for making this game!

A CLASSIC

its awesome. perfect for what it is. crytek really knew their craft. tacical in terms of choosing the way you go through open-ended levels, other than that its purest funniest fps. one of these games that deserve a remaster(re-release), although it really doesnt need one becuse it still looks stunning, but better mutithreading ---> performance would be a nice addition. beautifully looking, highly replayable, very polished. good gunplay. only con is laser pointer is being found too far into the game(looks cool), and that by default that theres no controllable mounted guns on highest difficuly, but these both can easily be tweaked using notepad so it isnt an issue for somoeone who really wants to fine-tune the game experience.

Still one of the best, with downsides

Despite its age Crysis is one of the sweetest shooters that still looks great 10yrs after its release. Level-design is top-notch, the maps are huge and the Cryengine renders them with the amount of detail that every die-hard FPS-fan should be happy with. Had tremendous fun with this game back then and now, after re-descovering it via the GOG-version. The game is still worth every cent, despite some flaws I encountered (see below). DOWNSIDES: The first 3/4 of the game Crysis does everything right: you get a nice variety of weapons, a Nanosuit that enhances your tactics and an environment that let's you approach any task in any way you see fit. The final quarter, though, was not so fun anymore: Crysis puts the focus on scripted events and you find yourself bereft of weapons or the freedom to accomplish a quest "your way". The final 3 missions are a neverending string of "do this & do that"-scripts. Beginning with map "Exodus" those scripted events caused show-stopping bugs on my setup (enemies just freezing but invulnerable) making it impossible to advance any further without the console. Same things happend in maps "Ascension" and the final map, where I was fighting an assault forever as the mission wouldn't advance. TLDR: I love the game, fantastic shooter, but I will never forgive Crytek for taking away your freedom of play towards the end of the game, after firstly encouraging you heavily to "do it your way". It's still a 4/5
