Croc’s back and he’s still got the moves!

Croc Legend of the Gobbos is the heartwarming journey of an endearing, humble little crocodile equipped with only his iconic backpack and a wiggly butt as he platforms his way across a series of unique worlds by running, jumping, climbing, swimming and tail spinning on his quest to rescue his adopted family of Gobbos from the grasp of the evil sorcerer Baron Dante and his impish Dantini hordes.

With its broad appeal and groundbreaking creativity, the original game quickly became a multi-million selling platforming classic, and while the Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster delivers an authentic gameplay experience that transports players back to the golden age of gaming, it also introduces a roster of modern updates including enhanced HD graphics, modern control mechanics with an updated camera, and retro video modes to recreate the gaming experience that charmed us in the 1990s.

Dive into a beautifully recreated world filled with vibrant colors, captivating landscapes, and playful challenges which will ignite your imagination. The Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster offers an authentic blend of nostalgia and modern gameplay, ensuring a gaming experience that pays homage to the original while inviting a new generation to discover its timeless magic.

The game features 45 levels packed with enemies and bosses, spread across 5 different worlds including volcanoes, ice glaciers, underwater caves and even more…

The Crocipedia

With the cooperation of many of the original team members, Argonaut Games spent over a year tracking down a treasure trove of long-lost development materials in order to create a painstakingly curated digital museum featuring concept character and level designs, animation tests, game design documents, rare promotional merchandise, pre-release mixes of the iconic Croc soundtrack, and also created a series of documentary interviews with many of the contributors to Croc’s development. The Crocipedia is the perfect way for superfans and game historians alike to take a deep dive into the creative process behind the game and uncover the stories that helped shape Croc's journey to become a gaming Legend.

Nice Game

I would say, this Game is a 7/10 in a good Way. Compared to other Jump and Runs, as Mario 64, it is more simplistic and streamlined. The new 360 Controls fit this Game really much, the remastered Graphics are good, i personally like the smooth Original Mode, as it gives Croc a more characteristic Shape. With the D-Pad you can control Croc as it was in the original, sometimes good to adjust Croc in certain Situations. You can Attack with a Tail Swing or stomp down when in Air. Croc has also a quick Turn. Most Levels are beatable between 3-10 Minutes, the first World is pretty easy, but Difficulty goes up and some of the Plattforming becomes pretty hard at the second World. You have two Exits, the normal one and one you can open with five Crystals you have to find in the Level. You can also save your fluffy Friends to make it 100%. Geting all special Exits grants you a Secret Level in each world. Thats all and thats great! Not 100 Bananas a 6 Colors. Also not a lot of Dialog for the Story you have to read. The Game respects the Time of an Adult and its streamlined Design is good for Younglings that have to learn such Games. The Extras and overall Presentation are really nice, but take a huge Amount of the overall Size (20 GB Videos), i guess you could try and delete them ;) That Room when the Game starts is really lovely done. I can really recommend it. I wasn't sure if i will give it 4/5 Stars, but compared to other Games, i want to play further and i have fun doing it. Yes, there are better Jump and Runs, but this one has a good Sweet Spot in the Design. So 5 Stars because i recommend this Game.

A timeless 3D platforming classic

This game is often overshadowed by other popular competitors of the same three-dimensional world and timeline, but it also gets under-credited considering the historic facts that consequently lead to the existence of a widely known title featured by a famous plumber. Croc is the original creation of a British team and one of my most important jigsaw pieces (Intentional pun? Maybe…) that build up my childhood’s puzzle. You help out a young crocodile to rescue his adoptive family while collecting treasure and reverting some transformed creatures back to their own selves. I praise it for its unique art direction style and charm, the humour and the unforgettable and extremely catchy soundtrack. This remastered version did justice to what the game needed in order to answer to the current standards. The models were updated in a balanced way: they only smoothed what they thought it would benefit from that visual improvement (eyes for example), while keeping faithful to the original look of the game that the 1997 era players were used to. The controls and the camera were also improved. Lastly, this GOG release also includes the 1997 game with a few changes and adaptions but the best things out of it are that it’s more lightweight than the CD-ROM release and plays the soundtrack without any optical media requirement and there’s native widescreen and window support. Argonaut Games, Titanium Studios and Big Foot Entertainment did justice with the remastered version of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos and it’s a must-play title for every 3D platformer fan, especially the 90s linear genre, and is also highly recommended to anyone looking to try out for the first time this tímeless and family-friendly classic with a rather simplified gameplay mechanic.

Awesome Remaster! - Sounds, Music, World

The game may feel a bit outdated today, but what definitely hasn’t aged is the soundtrack, the sounds, the characters, and the entire world of Croc. That alone far surpasses many modern games in terms of quality. I’m really glad this remaster exists – I recently finished the original Croc, and this is an absolute must-play for me. Thank you for this remaster!

Amazing remaster

The game runs and looks great !! proper throwback and i love all the extra content in the Crocipedia, my only gripe is the games lighting is washed out and very bright in parts, so much i couldnt see the exit trigger for the secret level . other than that amazing.

A loving remaster of a cult classic

As someone who grew up playing the original Croc, I can say with confidence that Argonaut have absolutely preserved the spirit of their 90s game. Everyone I've spoken to says the same thing: "it looks like it did in my memory". It's the definition of what a remaster, rather than a remake, should be. And aside from the nostalgia hit that so many of us are now enjoying, the actual game isn't bad either! Some of the platforming is genuinely tricky, and the game world has a real charm to it. The boss fights are nothing special, but the platforming, the characters and the music combine to make a really enjoyable experience. Old-style tank controls are preseved on the keyboard for those who want them (it feels crazy using arrow keys again to move instead of WASD!), but plug in a game pad and you've got proper modern camera controls to explore. If you're curious to see a piece of gaming history, and experience what it felt like to play on a CRT monitor (in a time before our eyes had seen HD graphics and the 640x480 looked pin-sharp), give this game a go. Kapow!!
