Costume Quest

I completed this earlier and I found it really enjoyable. It's a double fine game and plays like one in that the game design makes the gameplay continually interesting, fights can be repetitive at times and obtaining costumes can be tricky but I wasn't so put off by this, you can usually run away from fights without issue. The game has a nice feel to it, it's as Halloween-like as it gets and is perfect for the occassion. The dialogue is funny and it's an all round nice game, good for anyone age wise and highly enjoyable. I took about 10 hours to complete the game, it's a good length, if you do want more then there's kind of a second game in there too called Grubbins on Ice, but to be honest I've barely touched this one.

This game is great for kids, it is a bit repetitive in the gameplay but has a nice immersive story. My main criticism would be that some uninterruptible animations and lack of a fast forward buttons instead of interrupting the story cutscenes. Note to Arch Linux and Manjaro users, if the game fails to start with a mising driver error, you should edit start.sh and change the lib_path32 to the following: local lib_path32="/usr/lib/"

This is the first video game I have ever played to perfectly encapsulate the joy of trick or treating and the sense of adventure as a kid on Halloween night. The characters are lovable, the costumes are fun and the collecting will keep you engaged. Battles get a bit repetitive, but are usually very short.

I really enjoyed this game. The story and characters are fun and pristine. The creative art-style works well with the beautiful cell shaded graphics. And as a plus the PC version comes with the DLC Grubbins on Ice for free. The only issues that I have with the game is that the frame-rates are capped at 30fps and that ending of Grubbins on Ice is a cliffhanger. Double Fine Productions have stated that the game engine can't handle 60fps but they may one day have an update that fixes this. All in all this is a great game for all ages.

I really enjoyed playing this. The battle system could have been slightly improved (which apparently they've done in the sequel), but 95% of the time I didn't feel like it was tedious to play, I enjoyed trying out the different costumes and stamps for the best combinations and strategies. And the game had me constantly cracking up with the jokes and witty remarks and such; "Plot twist!" was one of my top favorites. I already went and bought the sequel because of how much fun I had with this one. And, the difficulty and humor are good for all ages. A nice gem of a game.
