Diablo with a gun
So the game is about: Go to a room. Shoot a horde of enemies. Go to another room. Sometimes the story progresses. Which is disappointingly short. This is counterbalanced by more shoot enemies in a room sessions. I've just replayed Alan Wake, and - as it was told control has some connection with it, and heralds the coming of AW2 - I foolishly bought this one expecting the same. Still. Controls are flawless. Including the camera handling. Art is concise. Graphics are great. Sounds are also. The world is interesting and well narrated. Only that this is not an action-adventure game. This is a repetitive shooter with some character development mechanics (that are unavoidable if you don't want to die every minute). They could tell this story in 30 minutes in a real adventure game. I hope AW2 will go back to the roots. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure that this is what people want nowadays in the fortnite era.

Remedy's lost their touch.
Hard to believe that this is the same company that created Max Payne 1 and 2. Control is a good example of the many things wrong with the industry. -Pretentious, convoluted, and outright bad writing that attempts to appear deep. -Stilted acting that is sometimes so uncomfortable I would believe it was done by amateurs. -Gameplay that prioritizes flash over substance. -Level design is just corridors that funnel you to the next boss fight arena. -Invisible walls that prevent alternative routes. -Women who are intentionally uglied up to appear more like men. -Over-reliance on codex entries and voice recordings to flesh out the already shaky world building. I honestly can't think of anything this game does well and because of that I can't really recommend it.

Too many bugs
On the one hand, it's such a good game. It's got good story, okay voice acting, good combat, great level design, great worldbuilding. On the other hand, from a technical standpoint it's a terrible game. Running down a hallway? There's a good chance if you just entered a doorway you'll clip through the floor. Right in the middle of an intense battle? Probably gonna crash every other battle. Relying on auto save? WELL, crashing makes it so your save is going to inevitably be corrupt (hurray for copy and paste). Got your back to a wall in combat? Will you look at that, an enemy spawned right behind you and one shot you. Anyway, the bugs really destroyed the experience. It's like you were in the theater watching the first day release of LOTR, but the reel was cutting out and needed to be reset, or there were artifacts or every once in awhile during an important scene a fly landed on Gandalf's nose. LOTR is still a good story, but your experience would be ruined. Was worth it to play, but I hope the devs can do better for their next game.
