Singular experience.

I really enjoyed the game, I was excited to play it finally and see what the game was like. After having completed the game, I was extra excited to replay it and use what I had learned late game to my advantage earlier in the game, to extend the play time and relax the dificulty having an idea of how to play. To my disappointment and chagrin, I could not start a new game, there is a "new Game" option, but when selected it only starts you over in the state of the game having already been beaten and everything unlocked and discovered. None of the quests activate properly, None of the control points are locked, the missions become bugged when I attempted to re-play them, either not updating, completeing, or even triggering to begin them. Once I found that the Evade training quest was active, but not operating beyond the quest activation G option, I gave up knowing that without Evade, there is no point in going further. When I entered the break room, there was no red light flicker, the floor never collapsed, it's just an empty room. I gave the game 2 stars because of the absolute lack of any replay value, I have over 3k hours in witcher 3 and discover new things every time I play it, for example.

Can't recommend.

I guess I can see why this game was so cheap 2 years after release, Its 'Gameplay mechanics' really don't make it enjoyable. All the special effects and blur when your hit make the battle sequences confusing and hard to tell what your shooting at (you can't blur effects turn it off)... you also can't wait back and pick off enemies one at a time as they seem to endlessly respawn. Your weapons dont seem very powerful, though you do have special powers, There's weapon upgrades, which would maybe help, but I don't know which would be best for me because you can't try them out to decide which to go for because... CHECK POINTS... this is the killer for the game - The game has checkpoints saves - there's no manual save option, you can't even have multiple saves (To try out different upgrades). So I end up running for a couple of minutes to the next place on the map, get hit by an enemy I didn't know was there , the screen gets so blurry I can't see what's going on, and I'm dead - back to the checkpoint. They clearly know it's a problem, as they've added a built 'assist mode' which even offers 'invincibility' - we used to have a better solution, it was called 'let the player save the game whenever they want', but we also used to have games which didn't make the game graphics as blurry as possible so you can't tell what's going on too. A lot of reviews say the plot is really good, maybe it is but to me it seems to be heavily borrowing from SCP, maybe there's more to the game, but I won't be playing any further because it's not fun.

Why the love

Got this free on another platform and finally tried it. About four and a half hrs into the game finally determined without a shadow of a doubt that this is not a good game. I did have someone tell me it gets good after about 10hrs, but if a game can't hook you in the first 30min then that's bad game design. If the game would've been in first person it might have been a little better but not enough to spend any type of money on.

Why playing ...?

Well starting a new game I always ask myself: why should I play it. Well perhaps because I bought it, but that's not enough. Why should I waste time playing a game? For some games it's easy for this one ... well. It starts with some words about the world - the world we know and what lies behind. A good start for the first five minutes. But still I don't get why I am there and why the building is empty except for the janitor. And why shall I go on? Why do I fire on the enemies and why do I care about the gun? Well the enemies shoot at me, fine. Okay, I shoot back. The world itself is ... empty. There is not much to touch and the story isn't going fast catching me. Comparing it to games like Remember me or Bioshock where you find a dense atomosphere this is ... okay, it's not lame but it's spare. The graphics are okay. The animation of your character is poor. I could play it, but I still don't get why. So I might drop this.

Too difficult for me....

I would love to dive deeper into mysterious "oldest house" and it's story, as I only pllayed the game a few hours. Sadly the combat is too hard for me. I'm not great at shooter games, but I still loved Alan Wake and liked Quantum Break very much. I also ocasionally died in those games, but here I even had a hard time finishing the first bigger fight (The one before you meet Emily Pope). The Enemys are bullet sponges and my own character Jesse seems to be made out of paper. After 2-3 hits your dead and you only recover if you kill enemies and collect blue shards from them. Though it's not easy to get to these shards because where one (now dead) enemy was, others aren't far of. The combination of dying a lot, losing 10% of your materials with every death and long loading times are too much for me right now. Unfortunately there are also no difficulty modes to choose from. I would still love to play the game on an easier mode. Maybe I would even replay it on a higher difficulty after I'm more comfortabel with the fighting mechanics/controls. I'm sure there are a lot of people who played the game and are laughing right now or are scratching theire heads, beacause for them this game was (too) easy. So if you are good or at least decent in third person shooters this could be a game for you. Sadly it's not for my. Maybe I give it an other shot someday, but for now I'm too frustrated with it.
