Clive Barker's Undying

At the time I am writing this review, this game has a 5 star rating. I guess it's natural to be disappointed when - Loading, please wait. - Your expectations are raised a little too high. This game is plagued by tiny levels and constantly interrupts me with loading - Loading, please wait. - screens. I know I shouldn't judge a game by its graphics, especially when it was released in 2001, but Halo looks better and it was on the Xbox. Half-life and Quake 2 look better with their arguably lower level of fidelity, and they don't constantly - Loading, please wait. - interrupt you with bloody loading screens. As for the gameplay, its a sub-par fps. Spells help mix the combat up some, but for me it was a bit of a gimmick. Enemy variety is - Loading, please wait. - lacking and while the environments are sometimes interesting, they are just as often dull and empty. Undying does succeed in being creepy, but it rarely invokes true - Loading, please wait. - terror. I didn't finish this game. I stopped a few hours in because I wasn't having fun. All in all, Undying is a forgettable experience and there is no excuse - Loading, please wait. - for levels this tiny.

Its a rare breed of a game and plays well as a story based FPS horror. The graphics are powered by the unreal tournament engine and were neat for the time. Game play is still good and the story is much better than most modern games on steam ;)

Perfect in one word.. I wish jericho come too

Despite graphical handicap, this is probably one of the best mofo games ever! 100% fun, thinking what I would change left me with nothing. Well balanced, interesting, huge variety of weapons spells and enemies will keep you on your toes, and making you pray to survive. Even on easy survival is not guaranteed, a game from back when games really were games, and not money milking programs.... And, you can use it with Reshade, to enhance graphics even a bit, but it's a bit tricky, you need to use a program called DGVoodoo so it connects to modern directX, but I made it, and it looks sweet: Original: https://i.imgur.com/7plpPLf.png Reshade (not edited): https://i.imgur.com/3owJ2xq.png Sadly couldn't make it work in widescreen. PS. I don't consider it a horror game, sure there is gore and dismemberment, but same goes for Skyrim ;)

I first played this game shortly after it came out. It was not received well by gamers, for whatever reason, but critically acclaimed. This is one of the few times I side with the critics. This game was amazing! The storyline grabs you as few FPS stories can, and the atmosphere in this game...to this day, this is the only game I ever played that gave me the creeps bad enough I had to take a break from it. Some really neat ideas in this game, and fun levels and spells. Granted, I only really used a couple spells throughout the game, but I suspect everyone is different on that. The weapons are pretty standard fare, with a couple twists. I love the stone you carry with you, that allows you to scrye for things and amplifies your magic when both are equipped (something I was unaware of my first playthrough). Very much worth the asking price! The graphics are not as good as newer games, obviously, but they are not horrible either. pick it up and enjoy something different in the FPS genre!
