FANTASTIC HORROR AT IT'S BEST
To have weapons in one hand and spells in the other put it as one of the first to do so, the music and the voice overs are at its best. I played this game for years and now I am enjoying it again, I remember the water moving past the boat as Patrick went to help his friend, the woodwork and items inside the mansion was just fantastic graphics. I do not purchase games unless they have great graphics and audio and this one had both plus a top notch story , I give it 5 VERY LARGE STARS !

A classic everyone should play!
Like FPS games? Like horror too? How about a gothic story and setting? You're gonna love this! I, probably like you, was skeptical about this title at first, but I was happily proven incorrect by this fantastic title! This game's story is written by Clive Barker and he sure knows how to build a story. For most of the game, it has this dark, haunting, and gothic feel to. There many times where you feel some sense of unease and adventure in others. Overall, the gameplay is solid and can give you a decent challenge, but the spells and unique weapons will definitely help keep you alive. You play as Patrick Galloway. An Irish adventurer who is investigating occult happenings at the behest of his friend Jeremiah Covenant. Oh man, both Patrick and yourself are in for some spooky stuff, but it is very well presented and pulls you in. Music matches each setting perfectly. There are some creepy tracks that set the mood perfectly. Voice acting is spot on. In fact, Clive Barker voices Ambrose and does a fantastic job. Weapons and spells are interesting, while everything remains useful through out the game. I wont spoil any of the fun, but you'll enjoy the variety and the unique designs. Story is, of course, very well written with very good pacing. You'll want to keep going just to learn what happens next and there are some details that will surprise you. If you enjoy the Legacy of Kain series story, then you'll enjoy this game's script as well. You'll travel back in time and even to a completely different dimension. All in effort to put your friend's curse to rest and save his life.....maybe...... There are mods available to improve some textures and add some cut content. I recommend playing through once as it's not a very long game, but it is the right length to be enjoyable and not tedious. This is good classic that will be timeless. I hope it gets a remaster, because it is that good. Get it guys. It's worth it. Hope you enjoyed my review, now go enjoy this game.

Fun as hell
Undying captures the spirit of Clive Barker's works in other media, while at the same time providing a setting with a real sense of place and dread. There are a great variety of environments that manage to evoke real atmosphere, even with the graphical limitations of the engine. The use of lighting and color in the game is admirable, and the violence during combat is appropriately gruesome--little flourishes like tracking blood around for a while after stepping over an enemy's corpse add to the macabre ambiance. The gameplay is superb, with a commendable mixture of exploration and combat. The combat is visceral and empowering, but though you can dual-wield spells and weapons (the coolest of these is the Scythe of the Celt, which can decapitate and sever foes in half), there is still a sense of urgency and real terror in some sequences. Boss fights aren't especially exciting, but some of them certainly have something going for them. The story, crafted by Barker himself, is original enough to stand out, but is by no means incredible. Still, the game is polished to a spit-shine and is packed with little details that set it apart from most other horror shooters. I will definitely be re-purchasing it now that it has graced GOG with its presence.
