Brilliant mobile game, okay-ish on PC
It is an entertaining little game with challenging but fair puzzles. The characters are cute enough, even though the story turns more sinister later. Checkpoints are plenty. The menu and controls, though, show that this is a PC conversion of a mobile game. Soon you begin to feel the limitations. For a PC game, you might expect more depth, less repetition, and more options to customize keys, graphics settings, sound, et cetera. I bought the game originally for my kid, and the 5-year-old loved the first levels—solid 4 stars. It might have been 5 stars, if the dialogs were voiced, and I hadn't been forced to give my best 3CPO impersonation, reading the dialogs to the little rascal. So, then, why just 3 stars? Well, because all is well UNTIL, a few levels in, the game design takes a sudden turn for the much (frustrating and unfair) worse. What ruins the game halfway are the laser tanks that begin to show up in every other room. These guys practically add a time limit. Meaning that you will have to observe and figure out a puzzle, WHILE constantly trying to outmaneuver enemies that will kill you in one shot and have no range limitation. You die a lot, start over and over and over a lot; Often without getting as much as a good chance to look at the puzzle pieces you are supposed to arrange. And even when you know exactly what to do, knowing and doing are not the same thing. For if you get unlucky, or hesitate for a second, or fail to button-mash your way through some passages, those tanks may still corner and kill you with one lucky shot at any time. Combine that with the fact that this is a port of a mobile game with somewhat awkward PC keyboard controls, and you may understand why I cannot, in good conscience, give this game more than 3 stars.
