Builders Of Egypt is an economic type of city-building taking place in the valley of the Nile. The story starts in a little-known protodynastic period in which you will be able to observe the birth of the Old Egypt and finished with the death of Cleopatra VII.

The most important aspect is the skillful management of urban planning by shaping the grid of streets, placing buildings and their mutual relation. Well-designed city will greatly improve economic efficiency which may convert into city income.

Diplomacy and politics:
The governor will face very difficult choices to be made in a constantly changing political environment. Costly expeditions, Pharaoh and other cities requests, military threat and a mixture of different cultures will be a commonplace. A series of wrong choices can cost the loss of trading partners and low interest in the city by settlers. Moreover, the total lack of obedience to the rulers may end up with a civil war.

Religion:
Deity will be able to interfere with daily life but it will be done implicitly. The main aspect of religion will be satisfying the need for access to the places of worship, providing supplies for temples or organizing festivals. Neglecting this sphere may result in a dangerous social unrest on a par with e.g. famine.

Trade:
Trade is the most important element in royal treasury. Without it, it is very difficult for economic stability built solely on taxes. Therefore, in the interest of the player, producing goods for export at prices that will be able to change dynamically depending on the geopolitical situation, will be required.

Monuments:
What would the real Ancient Egypt be without its monumental sacred architecture? There are mastabas, obelisks, Karnak among others, the Ramesseum and of course the pyramids that are waiting to be built. You will be able to observe the slow process of construction. A team of carpenters, masons, architects and ordinary workers will rise building step by step. It will not be just a graphic feature - the building process is costly and will have an impact on the finances or the public mood.

War
Egypt's history is full of clashes of emerging and failing empires. You will have the responsibility of defending cities from foreign military attacks, making plans to attack and joining your forces on Pharaoh's own call.

Pretty disappointing

Well, I didn't expect much but being a fan of the old Pharaoh and Cleopatra games or Children of the Nile, I was at least hoping for the same overall experience. However, this feels almost like an entirely different simulation game - and a rather basic one at that - with a thin egyptian veneer pasted over it. So much just doesn't try to convey any theme or setting at all. Shame, really.

Too early to judge.

Overally the game seems fine, the mechanics are revolutionary but it's a solid update to Pharoh functionally. That said, the content in the Early Access version is so limited, it's hard to say anything about the game overall. The prologue mission is mostly boring, very straightforward, basic stuff: population and two step production. More importantly, the game is *very* colorblind unfriendly, and this *must* be fixed before release. As other reviewers have noticed, there are a lot of limitations on where to build buildings, but those overlays, and all overlays really, are exclusively in red and green. This obviously doesn't work with someone with red-green colorblindness. This must be fixed.

Pharaoh 2020

This looks like an attempt to bring Pharaoh (and its sister games) into year 2020. Game looks like it is not optimised, with mechanics that do not work in intended way. I predict that in the final form it will be very taxing for the hardware, even on low settings, but before it it will need a lot more working hours and testing hours to be playable on a level that will be enjoyable. For now I will stay to "original"/old sisters of this one.

Interesting, though lacking

A nice new concept and execution based on the city building system of the Caesar team (or more specifically an interesting remake of Pharaoh+Cleopatra), it is very promising, and the graphics are nice, though there seems to be lacking a lot. And it does feel like a beta, not a demo. Too many bugs like buttons not working, something getting stuck, and also ran into a problem that broke my game, not exactly a bug but there wasn't enough space in the stockpile for more clay, so production of bricks completely stopped, because it was filled with pottery and I am unable to trade this product with any city. Time passed and without being able to trade neither brick or clay I fell into insane debt. And I am unable to build more stockpiles because of the debt, or make more bread for currency. I imagine this would be fixed one way or another, but still, overall not a well-polished prologue demo/tutorial thing. When they game is finished and out, and the bugs done away with, I will give this game a fair rating if it is executed well, since I like Caesar-type strategy games.
