I thought that a Broken Sword release was very nice, but the remastered edition doesn't do the trick for me...
That's not a problem any more as you also get the original ^^
Thanks GOG, doing a great job!
Man, I've got to say, if you enjoy adventure games, this is tops. This game has remarkably intriguing puzzles, logical collection of items and clue finding, and well paced story progression.
The voice acting and sound work is top notch, absolutely superb, every character is unique and memorable by not only voice, but also personality, the dialogue is incredibly well written, witty, and often enough, hilarious.
Having only just recently played this game for the first time, and being a long time, die hard adventure game fan, i have to say this is a must play for anyone who enjoys adventure, mystery, point and click or any and all of the above.
Like many other games purchased on GOG, I never had the opportunity to play Broken Sword at the time it was published. The fame and the aura surrounding BS are such that the desire to complete the adventure had reached compelling levels. Thanks to GOG finally add another classic to my collection of adventure games. Unfortunately I can not claim to be truly satisfied.
The disappointment is not in the interface (typically of the game I was looking for), nor in the cartoon graphics (which are part of its charm), as in the plot. That's all in this kind of adventure game.
Starting from the grounds of George Stobbart (which of course are ironic, and can also make sense in the style of the game), a little weak, the real disappointment is in the conduct of the ending.
In the end the most interesting parts are those related to Nico in the Director's Cut, but remain isolated and not really integrated into the rest of the plot.
In the face of these defects, which do not affect the quality of execution of the game as his enjoyment level of involvement, I would not rate it as a masterpiece.
But for all the adventurers is definitely a milestone to try out.
A bold statement, but in my eyes the truth. Since the first time I played Broken Sword, I was hooked. Amazing story told through brilliant voice actors in a believable world of conspiracy, murder, danger and comedy. Buy this game and then it's four sequels - you won't be disappointed!
Coming from playing point & click adventures made by Lucas, Broken Sword was a dissapointment. The story is linear and the pacing is slow. Puzzles seems to be contained within the scene they are spawned increasing the feeling of linearity. I bought the game after readig the extremely positive reviews here, which set my expectations high and contributed to my overall dissapointment.
