Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse

I played BS 1 and 2. Read reviews tht 3 and 4 broke away from the gameplay so skipped those. Really liked BS5. It has a mix of puzzles with some really make you think. I also thought the graphics were really pretty and made you want to explore. I always enjoy adventure games that take you to different real world locations and provide a bit of history. This game had a good feel and no sense of claustrophobia. I had no play issues. Once I thought I had a bug but found out I just had not done an action to allow me to continue. Smooth running and fun. Well done.

As a fan of quest games i can only say it is not a bad game. not at all. good graphics, good music, nice story. puzzles are logical, but sometimes quite challenging (cyrillics i look at you). Game crashed a few times after long hours of play, but autosave does a good job. All around good game.

Classic old school point&click adventure with great visual and catching story. Bit too linear, with kind of unbalanced difficulty of puzzles. First half is pretty simple, but second has some tricky ones. Luckily hint system is absolutely fantastic (I wish to have it back in "90ties"). Game pace is rather slow, so definitely not for someone more "action oriented". I would say it is not better then fantastic BS2 (and some other adventure gems of that era), but still holds the flag and definitely worthy to give it a try.

Let's face it... while Broken Sword 3 and 4 had good stories, there was just something missing from the gameplay and overall feel about them that the first twos games brought. Broken Sword 5 recaptures that feeling from the first two games - the look, the music, the sense of mystery and adventure - it's all there. The hint system works well for giving you a nudge in the right direction without giving away the whole solution, the story is well scripted and the characters are voiced well. I'm looking forward to Episode 2 being released.

My BS5 pro's and con's: (!---->might contain spoilers<----!) Plus: - Graphics, animations and colours - The soundtrack - The atmosphere (Henri's office, Fleur's shop, Hobb's studio, Castell Del Sants, Montserrat, Santa Cova chapel, etc. - WOW!) - Enjoyable dialogues / German voices - Puzzles: Gehnen's map, the telegram and "Ave Maria" - TREVOR! - The Hendersons - The Goat (Any chance to release a spin-off with just Trevor and the goat? :D) - "Jasmin" Minus: - The delay ... - Episode 1 was a little lame - German voices in different volume levels - The last chapter, "Eden". (What about a real challenging puzzle and a longer epilogue?) - Missing suspense - Pretty easy (and too short!) All things considered, i would rate it 3,5 out of 6 stars. For me, a perfect mix would be the extent and the locations of BS2 and the thrill of BS3 (remember for example that sneaking into the mansion?).
