Brigador: Up-Armored Deluxe

I was only looking for a cheap game to play for when my internet mucks up. But I have been playing it for about six hours now while also listening to the audio book that came with it. So far I have just about finished the first campaign (not the DLC one) and I am going to go back and play those missions again with different tactics in mind. This game isn't just a mindless rampage game, there are some places where you have to think, even with the larger heavy vehicles, and use the ammo sparingly. Also, the book is great, it gets into the action pretty fast and just keeps on delivering. It's also a bonus to hear the names of the vehicles you can unlock as well as the weapons and how they would be in real life. One of my favourite scenes is where a Mech with a rail gun is stalking three hover tanks, and takes the shot when they are forced to go down a narrow street, he thinks has them but they soon see through his usual trick and thats when things get really interesting. Really digging the world this is set in and great leader may not have been such a bad dictator..weird but true.

I got this game in a free giveaway and, to be perfectly honest, I didn't deserve it. The devs didn't deserve. They deserve my money more than anybody on this planet. Brigador is a fine package of a game. The mechanics are in-depth and nuanced, the art-direction is fantastic (this includes the music), and the story and writing is amazing, with subtle character nuances and background influencing the way the texts are written. I have had hours of fun with this game, and I can guarantee that there are hours more to come. Buy this game as soon as you can.

When I first saw a trailer some years ago I was blown away by the optics. Since I am a member of the original Pixel Generation by sense of nostalgia was immediatly triggered. And what can I say? The most important part of any game holds up as well: The gameplay. It is fast paced and action laden while the controls are tight and responsive. Occasionally one looses orientation in that effects fireworks. But only for moments. The different mechs and tanks really play differently and require different play stiles adding variety. Fully destructable environments give you a sense of how powerful your weapons are when you take a look over the devastation after a won fight. This feedback should satisfy even a less nostalgia driven player. You just can't really find anything comparable in modern games. My only gripe is the lack of a proper story. You basically work off a list of single player missions only connected with some lore in form of text. TL;DR I recommend this game highly. Lots of action, great controls and a great visual spectacle.

An unfortunate victim of the indiepocalypse, this game deserves all the praise it receives.
