Botanicula is a point'n'click exploration game created by Jaromír Plachý and Amanita Design. It’s about a group of five friends -- little tree creatures who set out on a journey to save the last seed from their home tree, which is infested by evil parasites. The gameplay is about exploration, solving little funny puzzles, meeting strange tree creatures, and paying attention to the music as it provides you with useful clues and hints. The whole game takes place on one huge and strange tree that is inhabited by bizarre and freaky creatures.
This is not an ordinary game. It is far from it. Everything about it is curiously unique and very surreal, and that alone makes it worth checking out. It's just not possible to be bored in this game, as every new location brings something new and intriguing. The exploration elements are made with incredible polish and attention to detail, and the same applies to the musical score, sound effects, and, most importantly, the visuals. The synergy of those elements create a beautiful and memorable adventure that is enthralling beyond measure.
Visually stunning and emotionally touching game that is as unique and bizarre as it is fun.
Highly interactive environment that encourages experimentation and exploration.
Stylized soundtrack and sound effects, created by Czech alternative band DVA, are beautifully synchronized with what is happening on the screen.
Special Botanicula language.

As other Amanita Design games, this game is also an amazing game to be played with your child of every age. We have been playing Amanita Design games since she was 3 and we almost finished the whole catalogue, now.
This game is really creative! I love seeing all the crazy interactions with the different creatures. Always something new around the corner. The puzzles were pretty fair and there are some mini-games to round things out. Lots of fun! :)
A short game with a fever dream-like narrative.
0% language, 100% understanding.
The puzzles are very easy in general, at no point I was stuck or needed outside help.
All things considered, it was such an adorable experience and a nice getaway from our current state of the world.
it's a flash game sold for 15 eur. manual save anytime but only 6 slots and there's no level select, so you might want to use them for that, there are 6 altogether. a single volume setting, can't separately turn off the repetitive music, annoying sfx and even more annoying gibberish. windowed mode and a bunch of languages for the 3 words of text in the entire game. some cutscenes are skippable.
it's also completely unintuitive, just click on everything (often very fast, to complete a sequence or whatever), see what happens, but not in a fun humongous way (putt-putt, etc.). often you have to sit and wait until something randomly occurs, and no way of knowing if you're doing it for useless creature cards or 'quest' items needed for progression. cards unlock bonus cutscenes at the end, that's when you actually find out how many there are, without the chance to get the missing ones. while on a level you'll have no idea what's missing. great design. levels are also basically labyrinths, though there's a map after a while, shows current position, no fast travel.
the absolute worst part (besides nonsensical 'puzzles') is how inconsistent controls are. you might have to click, click and hold, click and drag, or just push stuff around without clicking. and by the time you think you have it down comes the tongue thing on level 5, where despite everything else experienced before, you only need to *click* it, then let go and move the mouse around, dragging doesn't work, even though it easily could and should.
I don't mind kids' games, humongous titles are among my all-time favorites, but this is not good, nor fun for the most part. level 5 was already too much, then the last one managed to outdo it with a finicky shmup section and more arcade nonsense.
This game is truly amazing, and while I did expect the game to be filled to the brim with great graphics, music and awesome atmoshpere, I did not expect a great game as well which I truly got. Thanks amanita!
