Botanicula is a point'n'click exploration game created by Jaromír Plachý and Amanita Design. It’s about a group of five friends -- little tree creatures who set out on a journey to save the last seed from their home tree, which is infested by evil parasites. The gameplay is about exploration, solving little funny puzzles, meeting strange tree creatures, and paying attention to the music as it provides you with useful clues and hints. The whole game takes place on one huge and strange tree that is inhabited by bizarre and freaky creatures.
This is not an ordinary game. It is far from it. Everything about it is curiously unique and very surreal, and that alone makes it worth checking out. It's just not possible to be bored in this game, as every new location brings something new and intriguing. The exploration elements are made with incredible polish and attention to detail, and the same applies to the musical score, sound effects, and, most importantly, the visuals. The synergy of those elements create a beautiful and memorable adventure that is enthralling beyond measure.
Visually stunning and emotionally touching game that is as unique and bizarre as it is fun.
Highly interactive environment that encourages experimentation and exploration.
Stylized soundtrack and sound effects, created by Czech alternative band DVA, are beautifully synchronized with what is happening on the screen.
Special Botanicula language.

Botanicula is Amanita Design through and through, with some amazing visuals and of course sound design (and soundtrack). It's not long, but not too short, definitely feels like a full game.
The puzzles are great too! They're often simple, but creative, but sometimes will require some serious thought. It's very well balanced in this regard and most importantly: it's a lot of fun.
What else to say... That it's a 10/10 experience? That it lands in my Best Games Ever list without a doubt? That if you like Amanita Design this is a must-play for you? That it's simply an amazingly crafted game?
Enjoyable, and nice imagery. Characters and happenings are quirky. Occasionally get stuck as have overlooked something, but the internet can help avoid annoyance if you don't like wandering around looking for clickable image areas.
This is the first game by Amanita Design that I have played, and wow what an introduction it was.
I will preface my review by saying that Botanicula is very light on the gameplay. The puzzles are unlikely to leave you scratching your head, and it's also not particularly long (I beat the game in 3 hours and I was taking my time.) If you want a pure puzzle game that will challenge you, this might not be what you're looking for.
As I say in the title, this game was more of an 'experience' (if that sounds pretentious at all I apologize but I think it's the most applicable term.) The world we're presented with here is absolutely intoxicating, full of little critters with charming designs that dance on the border of alien and familiar. The music was a highlight for me (a certain track that plays in the final large area of the game had me in a trance), and it fits the whimsy and unfamiliarity of this place better than anything else I could imagine. There's plenty of moments of bizzare humour, and the tone is never overly cutesy, with several off-colour and even downright creepy places and moments to discover (the nut town was a highlight for me.)
The 'most helpful' review on here describes the game as a 'celebration of life' and I cannot think of a more apt description. Every so often you find a game that reminds you of why games, and art in general, are awesome. Botanicula was that for me. I don't know everyone will love this game as much as I do, but I can say with confidence that I think this game will get a genuine smile out of you.
Thank you to the creators for this wonderful piece of art.
