Botanicula

I definitely recommend this; it is a fun, artistic, beautiful and weird game at same time. Characters are very interesting, plot is intriguing: a group of friends trying to save their world from dark entities that consume everything they touch. However, the main star of the show is probably the music and the sounds, also the ambient atmosphere and the vibrant world. It is like an ecosystem with all the creatures and wildlife that live there. You quickly get the picture of the main plot line, not written out for you but you understand it. Each section of the game has you traveling and collecting things that will help you move further. Some puzzles here and there to keep you engaged and by the time you get to the end you will wish for more of this experience.

Play if you like to explore the wierd tree life in an equally imaginative as charming (yet also short) point and click adventure. Atmosphere is the name of the game from hand drawn graphics, quirky animations and sounds matched by soothing musik. You accompany five friends in a quest to save their home tree. Which ist done by solving simple environmental puzzles or activating the right companion to help out with their special characteristics via trial and error. What starts fairly linear spreads out towards the end creating a good sense of progression. But the real star are all the oddly cute creatures you meet along the way. Which consequntly can be collected as card badges by making them perform some little to complex tricks - can you catch them all?!

I love this game and I have been laughing the whole time I play it

Visually this game is quite beautiful, and the developers were very creative in their approach, but I simply didn't find the game all that fun to play. I can see how this could be entertaining to some people, but unfortunately it's not for me.

Here are my thoughts: Pros: Simple yet mostly beautiful graphics. - Music is mostly enjoyable so it's almost always a pleasure to have on. - Engaging exploration that makes me want to keep going. - The various identifiable plant types and parts in the oddest places is a hoot. - Humorous moments, I found myself laughing out loud several times throughout. Cons: Same graphics so beautifully simple at times are often thrown off by large, in-your-face photos. - Some of the cards flat-out did not complete for no reason I can think of. - Such lovely and engaging play throughout most of the levels (I love the little town) then we get down into the root system and it just keeps going on and on and on....and on to the point where I'm almost wanting to gnaw off my arm to make an escape. I actually had to stop playing midway through that round because my wrist hurts so bad from all the clicking.
