Monthly and all-time Leaderboards, 200+ Achievements

Book of Demons is the first installment of Return 2 Games - a series of original mid-core titles, inspired by the early golden days of PC gaming.

Cards and Deckbuilding

It’s not a card game, but items, spells, and skills are all expressed as cards. The strategy lies in adapting your hand to each situation. Cards can be upgraded with runes and you can find many variants with diverse bonuses. Legendaries are the most epic but hard to acquire.

Tailored sessions with Flexiscope

Book of Demons respects your time. It features the Flexiscope engine which allows you to divide the game into sessions of any size. It even learns your pace of gaming and predicts the time to complete the next session.

Unique Mechanics

Simplified movement and fight mechanics is where Book of Demons differs the most from other hack & slash games. There is often not enough time to click-remove all of the obstacles such as monster shields, enemy spells, poison, or knocked cards, so timing, card selection and order of execution are critical.

Hack & Slash in the world of Paperverse

Book of Demons takes place in Paperverse, a world that exists entirely inside a pop-up book.
It’s a tale of good and evil about saving the world from the ultimate devilry. Sounds familiar? Inspired by the dark and gloomy atmosphere of the first Diablo game, Book of Demons is part tribute part parody of hack & slash classics.

Comfort of Gameplay

Many Book of Demons features were designed with gameplay comfort in mind. Points of interest are marked at the top of the screen and get revealed once you get closer. Your character leaves footprints, which can be used to track your way back or notice paths already visited without opening the map.

Challenging Endgame

On average it takes about 10 hours to complete the campaign with a single class, but maxing out a character and mastering all of the higher Freeplay difficulty levels and Quests takes much longer. The Roguelike mode offers another level of challenge with permadeath, restricted healing and even more obstacles to overcome.

it's a pretty fun and goofy game

I bought it because of cards and deck building, but I stayed because of how much fun the hack and slay was. I enjoyed the (first play trough) ~15 hours on different difficulties and different lengths of the dungeons. The art-style is very pretty, even the sound-effects are funny, but the best was the cringe but lovely outro-song after the defeat of phase III "Erzdämon" :D I think in a year, I give it another shot with the other characters (archer? & the magician)

Pretty...

... boring. Between the fact that your character walks by himself on straight fixed tracks, attacks by himself, and that the exploration factor is nix... you wonder if the game really wishes to have any kind of relation with the gamer. And - that's silly - despite the fact that the game is almost entirely on automation, it still insists to hold your hand as if you you had a QI lower than pebble. An adult and normally intelligent gamer will feel largely bored, and slightly insulted.

Not perfect but still enjoyable

Most of the complaints in the 1 star reviews are actually fair. It's a Diablo clone, it doesn't have proper deckbuilding elements, and so on. It's nonetheless a fun game for what it is.

Easy and good to relax

A simple click and point game for everyone to play. Nice if you need to vent and don't have good gaming skills

Incredibly entertaining

What if we had Diablo 1 from an alternate universe where you can't move freely, but in a set path and your skills/equipment were cards? Well, we don't have to imagine because here it is, as stated, is a hack and slash dungeon crawler, you caa "attune" to some cards, reducing your mana pool, but gaining useful passive effects, cards come in different qualities which add extra effects and they can be upgraded too to get even more out of them, play your hand wisely and you can have some nice card synergies that can clean a room of enemies in no time, enemies come in diofferent flavors and with different "heart" types that effecrively work like elemental resistances, they can also come with physical or magical shields and have their own skills, and bosses can eb tricky since they actually phse and use different skills or change resistances, I played the three classes, but the mage was the one I liked the most. Of course it has some flaws,, the most glaring one is that enemies are not bound to the path like you are, making dodging them really difficult, is good to have a pushc skill at hand so you can clear the path atnd retreat if needed. Also, some of the levels are idiotic, like big rooms full of enemies but you have to move through corners and crossroads in your path, sometimes your character loses their mind and starts jerking against a corner because a movement key moves you in 1 axis or the other depending on the camera angle. And on top of that ranged enemies can attack you long before they get in your attacking range, this is incredibly frsutrating given the previously mentioned long winding roads put in some rooms, and it gets worse when they teleport when you get close enough to attack them. So yeah, there are some things that are absolute bullshit in this game. But I'm not gonna lie , I had a lot of fun, the more you go the more powerful you get and by the time you get to the last boss you'll be killing enemies by the dozens.
