Bombshell is an Action Shooter game in which bomb disposal technician turned mercenary for hire, Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison must strong-arm her way across 4 planets in an Unreal Engine-powered galactic adventure to rescue the president (and humanity) from an apocalyptic alien threat. With out-of-this-world enemies, a never-before-seen arsenal of devastating weaponry, and a host of genre-crossing mechanics -- Bombshell is set to blow you away!
History in the breaking - Be part of Bombshell's debut as she fights to save the president and her people from a maniac's mechanical monstrosity
Brave New Worlds - Traverse the dying world of Kyron as it's consumed by its neighboring sun, discover the secrets of a civilization frozen in time on the distant world of Zeroth and travel to the epitome of technology - a villain's vision which threatens to consume all that exists
Robot-armed and Dangerous - Shell, shock and shatter your way through vicious, bloodthirsty predators, an augmented alien species, and the remanants of an ancient race re-animated, with more than 10 weaponized arm modifications
Heavy Handed - Fierce finishing moves and interactive environments make Bombshell as dynamic as she is deadly
Isometric Ingenuity - Brilliantly brutal isometric shooting layered with classic role-playing mechanics, including experience points, upgrades, side quests, and non-linear levels. All with a twist of first-person shooter mechanics.
Its a feminist game, the gameplay is entertaining but the controls are off, im playing on pc with an xbox 360 control and is not good, it doesnt aim correctly and the relative movement is hot garbage. besides that is a fair game with terrible script and dialogs, cheesy story but is fun.
First of all: The game has its goodmoments. There's fun stuff like the Personal Missile System and similar humerous stuff in it, visuals and audio are very nice, but overall it lacks depth.
If you're looking for a nice, casual gaming experience, this is the right game for you. Oh... and pick the rail gun upgryade, you'll never need another weapon in the whole game.
This is ONE of the major flaws of this game... why spent money on ammunition or weapons, when the first weapon you have, that conveniently never runs out of ammo, is the best weapon you can get? It simply felt like a bug rather than a feature, when you only need three shots to kill a boss enemy...
The other pain point is the level design... somewhere towards the end of the game, the level designers ran out of ideas, but obviously had a target minimum game time, they needed to achieve, so they decided to have the player run from one end of the map to the other and back again at least 3 times.
If you can ignore these two major flaws and if you just want Shelly to have some fun with tons of cannon fodder enemies, give it a try though!
I was cautious when I installed Bombshell. I played Rise of the Triad 2013 before (made by the same company), and it was really disappointing, to say the least. And while my initial impression was rather positive, it quickly deteriorated.
But let's start on a positive note, since developers avoided some issues from ROTT 2013. At least on my machine game did not slow down on ultra settings. Graphics are also more detailed and character models during cutscenes look believable.
But even best graphics won't make up for a fact that game is unbalanced. Even half-upgraded railgun (which has infinite ammo) can kill any enemy in single shot. Combine that with auto-regenerating armor which prevents you from losing any health and you're just unstoppable. I managed to defeat second boss on first try by spamming railgun. Moreover, even if you die, you won't lose much: you can respawn immediately for a couple of in-game money. And believe me, after a couple of levels you will have thousands of dollars in your inventory. This makes game way too easy, and ultimately, boring.
Sound issues from ROTT are back, voices are too low and once again audio sliders do nothing. Also, I installed version released after lawsuit from Iron Maiden. It changed name of first weapon from Ion Maiden to Ion Fury - or at least tried to, since old name popped up sometimes.
I stopped playing on the beginning of last episode which takes place on Planet Eater - I just could not grab last crystal, which was in front of me. I could jump on it, go across it, but player character just refused to pick it up. Any bug which prevents player from progressing further is a deal-breaker to me and makes my rating drop to 1/5.
I'm glad that I got both Bombshell and ROTT 2013 on sale. If I had paid full price, I would be angry. Get the prequel (Ion Fury), it was made by Voidpoint rather than Interceptor, and it shows.
I wish I could finally write positive review on Interceptor-made game.
What could have been a fun top-down shooter with a snappy protagonist is pulled down by the fact that clearly NO ONE bug-tested this game. For example, if I jump into the damn decorative pillars in the Whitehouse with my mighty fist ability, I get stuck there EVERYTIME. No one can persuade me that this couldn't have been avoided with a little testing. The nerve to ask for 35 bucks for this piece of game is astounding.
This game is just so much fun! I see a lot of negative reviews and I honestly can't get why they prevail. Sure, there few bugs here and there, sure, some portions of the game can be repetitive, but overall it is really great run'n'gun game. If you like games where you kill everything that moves, collect items and sometimes upgrade your weapons, this one will not disappoint you. If you don't like this genre, just pass it. Game also has cool protagonist, humor that can vary from stupid to really subtle and nice looking design.
