Beyond Good & Evil™

I got this game when it first came out on PC. And was bugged, which is a shame. Now the only downside to this zelda-esque futuristic adventure is its length. I finished it in a week end, which is NOT what I am expecting from full priced videogame. Now on GoG, at Gog prices, this is an excellently spent 10$.

Beyond Good and Evil is one of the finest games, if not THE finest game i have ever played in my entire life. And i believe myself to have played some damn fine games. But Beyond Good and Evil Galliantly stands its ground against such modern beauties as Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Mirrors Edge and Batman: Arkham asylum (all games to which i direct a lot of praise) Blending brilliant emotional storytelling and great voice acting with a gorgeous graphical style that still looks great today (especially in 1920x1200 :3), BG&E is a prime example of great production values and talented programming/artwork. Every corner of the BG&E universe oozes style and personality, and it is evident from just 10 minutes of playing that designers went to a lot of effort with all the little details which all help the game feel so much more atmospheric than many other titles. Beyond Good and Evil is a game i wouldnt wish for anyone to miss out on, and at this price? its a steal. you owe it to yourself to experience this masterpiece in gaming, and as for final comments, roll on the sequel!! AL1A5.

So much good have been said about this, so I'll just repost what I wrote about it in my blog a few months back. Beyond Good and Evil (2003) is considered a great game and somewhat of a classic, but it never became a commercial success. I am not going to give you a review, most gaming sites have one. I am not here to give you facts about it either, for that you can read a rather good article about it on the domain of questionable knowledge (wikipedia). I am however saying that if you have never played this game, you have missed out! Get a hold of a copy for your PC, PS2, GameCube (compatible with Wii) or Xbox (not 360 compatible) and I promise you that you will not be disappointed, except for the fact that it did not get the sequels that were planned (although one seems to be on the way now).

This game is really fun! It only took me roughly 10 hours to complete. It is never too repetitive and throws a handful of different game mechanics at you to keep things fresh. There are a number of side objectives you can complete such as: winning all the races, getting every pearl, catching all the looters. I'm not a huge completionist, so I only tampered a little with the races and such. The only issue I had with this game was a couple freak camera angles that can get a little annoying. But, all in all this is a great game and well worth it.

Well this is undoubtedly the best game I ever played. The summary above pushes it as an action Sci-Fi but it is actually much more than that. It has adventure and mystery elements as well as just plain fun elements (like a boat race) that make this game so special. There is no dullness here, no point in which you are not exited and most important the game constantly surprises you with new things. The story is excellent with a truly epic ending(!) and the characters endearing. It is suitable for all ages and that really means it is fun to play for adults as well without losing any of its appeal. It will engage you with its humor and enthralling game play.
