Bad Acting. Fun concept. Decent
Decently fun. Really only knocked by it's laughably awful acting and plot. Some of the written stories are excellent.

I only have 2k char so I will list what
needs fix. (btw I LOVE this game! I can't believe I finished it so fast, or at least the missions so far, this is in dev of course.) -game needs .net framework 3.5 but this is not mentioned before purchasing anywhere. If you can't connect your pc to the internet to download it, you can't play! Please get rid of .net framework! undesirable for me and many others (it's become a meme when anything needs .net framework...) -voice audio has no setting -voice acting sounds like a saturday morning cartoon. some characters are very cringe. -game music sounds like an endless stream of over-exaggeratedly inspirational music like a cheesy super hero movie, could feel more "mysterious-spacey" -game runs great, only lag is during star jumps -sick bay and research is painfully horribly slow of waiting torture and only has one slot each. -Game makes my eyes hurt. Reasons: -station menus have grainy static overlay -text is very bright on very dark background. When I look away from the computer, I can still see the game text floating on my wall. OUCH. -Game is full of giant overwhelming amounts of BLUE and ORANGE. very painful to look at. Please make better use of color! -UI size on max setting is still too small. most text and conversations and events are very small to read. -All ship engines, especially of the players ship are so bright that I cringe in pain and struggle to avoid looking at them on the screen. I actually feel physical pain to look at my computer screen. -All Stars in the game (not tiny background ones) are extremely bright as well. Please include an option to turn off these painful bright neon lasers of doom, and allow the stars and ship engines to just glow softly. Please include the option to disable all BLOOM effects. The game is a good brightness, but objects like stars and ship engines in game are just way too much to the point of actual visual pain and completely out of balance with the rest of the game(which is actually a good level of brightness) 9/10

rough and janky, but it has heart
(short version: if you dont like choose your adventure books w/dice rolls, you'll hate this. there's a lot of reading). long version: this is the kind of game where I can tell the devs really had ambition and love for the title and I like the feeling of captaining a big ship the game provides. the cracks show when you have to grind to upgrade your fleet before a tough battle... basically you end up repeating the same half dozen generic mission types, which just involve going somewhere and fighting 2-3 ships. also, a lot of the game systems seem broken or unfinished.. I'm about 20 hrs in and still have no idea what the point of buying blueprints for type 1 ship modules is when you can always salvage higher versions from enemies. or upgrading your crewmembers to buff your systems when each of the crew types basically provide the same bonuses... or having to specify how much of each scrap item you want to recycle- like, just give me a button to upgrade and recycle ALL, lol. despite all this, however I really like the story and the vibe they were going for and it is fun when you're not having to grind.

The camera ruins all the fun
I'd love to love this game. Ship customization looks wonderful, research, roleplay, crafting, scavenging, on the paper everything is there to make you have a lot of fun. Sadly the game is pretty unpolished, what could be corrected with time, but it's also a bloody hell to simply fly your ship. I mean, it's fine to put options in the menus to not have the camera go mad in case people would "get sick" (yes that's in the option, "turn this off to not get sick"), but it would be best to not make it at the first place. The main issue is like many starship game like, you have to use keyboard and mouse to fly around and if most games could get a system mostly seamless where you actually make your ship point in the direction you aim with the mouse, they chose to make you watch in the direction of the mouse like in a VR game, and pilote with the keyboard. At best you get sick very fast, at worst (my case) every move becomes a nightmare where you are looking in a direction and your ship fly in a complete different one, it's even worst in fight, forget any tactical move. The fact you are forced in a TPS view with a weird angle do not help at all, and the pointer do not center back in the view on itself. Lastly asking to shoot on enemies with the mouse could work if it wasn't making once again the camera move each time you "caress" the said mouse. I hope this will be solved at somepoint, because to me a spaceship game where flying your spaceship is a nightmare do not deserve a good review. Even if there is a lot of work, even if there are amazing features. That's the basics! If you can't enjoy flying your space ship, there is no game. So please make a game before adding more features.
