Berserk Boy

I've found myself surprised with this game, got this for free, don't even remember if through Epoc Games or Prime Games and decided to test it several months later. First the counters, game has some secret areas that lead to collect a series of "resources", but in the end that lead to extra levels that doesn't add nothing to your gameplay, just a challenge oriented set of obstacles. The gameplay is very fun and is the major point in this game, i'll talk more about it later, but after getting the third power, gameplay slows down a bit, the new abilities are more of a nuisance than interesting, but things got fun again with the other abilities. But honestly, problems end there, the game has good pacing, interesting abilities and mechanics and besides, soundtrack goes nicelly throughout the game which is a very important point to me. Also the game is not very hard, beat it in 8 hours and I'm not a skilled player (anymore). Since I didn't bought the game, I feel that this very positive review is the least I should do for the devs and if knew better, surelly have paid its price as it certainly would have payed off.

No other comment othan its a good game

Everything in this game is nostalgic! The character designs are very good, the story is somehow original and the game have the right amount of dificult. I'm spending a good time playing, even with the impossible to find secret area on level 3.

There's definitel;y something here, and the game strongly wears its inspiration (Mega Man) on its sleeve. The actual character art is solid, and the gameplay flows pretty well. But the actuial character sprites for humans look really goofy, to the point I can't take anything seriously. Clearly the sprite artist is still learning (keep at it!), but the women sprites especially look odd. The music is properly energetic, and the sounds for combat and traversal are great, but other sound effects feel off (like a whiplash sound effect for a large fall at the start). And if your character is about zooming around and going berserk, why does he climb ladders so slowly? Shouldn't he zip up them as a thunderbolt like when he dashes? Overall, there's a lot of great ideas here, but in its current state, I can't recommend unless on a deep sale.

Nice looking 16-bit era graphics, solid music, enjoyable gameplay. Overall great title.
