A young man from a low-income family moves away from his widowed father and his summer love to attend college at Burgmeister & Royce. As he is cast into freshman life and persuaded to join the up-and-coming fraternity Delta Iota Kappa, he'll be exposed to a new world filled with conflicts, alcohol, drugs and sex.
Being a DIK is a choice-driven adult Visual Novel (VN).
In this game, you play as a young male attending college, and the choices you make will affect the characters around you and shape your character and adventure.
Will you choose to play as a nice, caring and romantic guy or as someone more straightforward and daring?
The girls in the game have different values and may or may not be attracted to you based on your choices. Can you resist the temptations along the way to get the girl of your dreams or will you relent and just...experiment? Hey, it's college, after all!
The game is a Visual Novel and it's made more interactive through optional mini-games and free-roam events where you can explore the current environment. You can purchase boosters, cheats and skills to make the mini-games easier to pass and find hidden items that unlock special lewd artwork and more.
Being a DIK Season 1 includes Episodes 1-4:
Episode 1 - The Initiation
Episode 2 - Maggot Brothers
Episode 3 - 100%
Episode 4 - When worlds collide
Season 1 is packed with 361 animated scenes and over 8000 images.
You can expect an 8-12 hour game that you can replay numerous times to experience different paths and girls.
Being a DIK: Season 2, and future seasons, will continue the story and be released and sold separately as DLC.
The game graphically depicts sex, usage of drugs and violence. The story is not intended for players being in a dark period of their lives. If you are easily offended or just looking for a fun game only, this game is not for you.
All sexual acts in the game are consensual.

I'm not sure what I expected from these kinds of games, other than the nudez, however it's apparent that somewhere in between Acting Lessons and Being a DIK, the developer became even more misogynistic and dour toward unconventional, or even real, women. There are still some truly touching moments in an otherwise comedic and dysmorphic hellscape of modern day ideas about beauty and gender roles. It's continuously engaging, funny, and poignant at times, but also deeply uncomfortable when you can clearly gauge the dev's personal feelings toward important and necessary topics of discussion like feminism and gender equality. And please, for the love of all that's holy, stop with the watermelon boobies and football goal hips. It's weird.
I love how the story is pretty simple yet so inticing. How you spend more time involved with the experience as a whole than just in it for the adult themes. All in all, Pretty good.
Having played Acting Lessons (AL), I was eager to begin Being A Dik (BAD) given how emotionally engaging AL is.
DPC didnt disappoint. The story in BAD is incredibly dense, and as you can imagine, the NSFW encounters are aplenty, depending on how you play the game. I'm currently on my second full playthrough, and I've found myself making decisions against my norm to experience more of the story, as your decisions from the get go will begin to shape how the story plays out throughout. Everything from dialogue responses to how other characters percieve your own are decided based on your decisions, making it not only emotionally engaging, but intriguing to figure out how to play to get the girl/s you want. You affinity plays a big role in who actually want to be with you in the end. Your choices carry significant weight, there are no guarantees in this game.
Just like with AL, the soundtrack of BAD is absolutely incredible. The music pairings to their corresponding scenes really set the atmosphere and tone, getting you that much more invested. My biggest complaint, is a grand majority of this music isnt found on popular streaming services, making it a bit of a headache to collect and listen to these tracks. Fortunately, a fan run YouTube channel has every song from BAD on it, so it's not hard to find the music once you know which scene it relates to.
At the time of writing this, only Seasons 1 & 2 are available of GoG, and I played through them all in about 18-20 hours for my first play through. Downside, is S3 is still in dev, and who knows when it will come out to continue the story.
Given how Season 2 ends, I know for a fact I will be on the lookout for Season 3, I've even considered becoming a Patron of DPC to shorten the wait that much more, but if there was a point to end on, it would be not to let this experience pass you by. Its one of the best VN games out there, and given how its been, I can only imagine it getting better as more DLCs are released.
