Being a DIK - Season 1

Only 3 minutes in, and I don't care anymore. Very bad gameplay. Clicking through since sentence dialog over music and changing still images that lack art direction. Yes, High Res on people, but the scenes are lack-luster. Visually not stimulating. I bore of clicking past line after line. Not very engaging.

What is this game doing to me? I remember there was a disclaimer at the beginning. I even saw it twice for some reason — the second time was right before I decided to post this review. And I’m talking about that conversation with Jill, when the MC sneaked in. Hell… I was crying like a baby. Me — a grown, 32-year-old man. As they say: don’t expect much, and you won’t be disappointed. I expected to play this game for an hour, maybe two at most, then delete it and move on to some other games from my backlog. And yet… I think it’s better for me to take a break now, or it’ll break me beyond any possible repair. Still, I have no doubt I’ll come back to it later. Maybe I’m just a bit too emotional for stories like this. And somewhere deep inside me, in a place even I can’t reach, there’s still some foolish romantic I suppressed many years ago. But overall — the game is awesome. Waiting for Season 3.

Like many others I redeemed the Freedom to Buy bundle in August. I expected cheesy writing for cheap entertainment but games like Being a Dik surprised me with its attention to detail, creative twists, and personality in each character.

I wasn't one to play Visual Novels, especially AVNs, but after getting those few games for free during the Steam/Visa/MC censorship nonsense, I eventually tried a couple and I kind of regret not trying VNs&AVNs before this. The, Being A DIK story, is a cut above the couple I've played. I will admit, the premise of moving away from the girl you fell hard for resonated with me because of similar events in my life. It's simple in a lot of gameplay aspects, but the simplicity is done well. I've played a few Triple-A games with flashier minigames that felt less engaging. I've played through once, committed to one path and accidentally another, so I look forward to my next playthrough experiencing all the things I rejected or missed, while following that paths choices. I cannot wait for Season 3, especially with the way S2 ended on that playthrough.

This is the best plot! The author is a genius. The game is incredibly fun to play - it’s truly captivating, with countless branching storylines to suit every taste. Honestly, it’s one of those rare games that pulls you in completely and makes you lose track of time.
