Laid-back aesthetic RPG adventure
First, this game is laid back. It's low stress. It's adventuring, magic, looting, with aesthetically pleasing UI and soothing music. Also, you can cut down trees. Like, every tree on the map you can literally cut down! Sometimes they regrow (I think if they're near Will O Wisps). Low stress.. but with hunger and thirst. Which keeps it interesting. The game is a bit on the challenging side until you realize you can hit 'H' to go to your safe place, which kind of makes it rather easy (probably my biggest gripe, but not enough to lower the rating because everything else is so pleasing). Combat is often challenging though, so at least you have a place to rest up and heal between fights. Plus you get to design your own house and yard! The animation showing the loot you curving into your inventory is SO rewarding -- so simple yet so rewarding. Maybe it's just hitting the right dopamine spots in my brain, but it makes collecting items even cooler. Especially when you cut down a tree and get not just wood but two more items.. including a Dragonfly! Every loot action has a chance at getting cool stuff. The UI, the inventory system, is elegant to me. The other (minor) gripe is that you earn LP (Learning Points) very rarely. Meaning that there are numerous skills you'll have to wait to learn. Like, ten townsfolk give me the option to learn a skill and I need to save up for many hours before getting them, because combat doesn't award you as much experience as quests. So I should stop randomly looting and go do the rest of the quests. But, whatever, I'm having too much fun. I'll go at my own pace.. To summarize, a wonderful crafty old-school type game with aesthetics that hit the right spots. A calming and laid-back adventure. A big thanks to the developer, and please create more game like this.
