Description
Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear adds a new chapter to the Bhaalspawn saga. The events occurring between Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II are at last revealed in this 25-hour expansion for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.
Expand Your Story: Explore new areas, fight new monsters, and win new rewards in the Siege of Dragonspear expansion to Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. Continue the adventure by exporting your game to Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Explore the Sword Coast: Venture through vibrant new hand-painted areas in the classic style of the original Baldur’s Gate
Gather Your Party: The original cast returns to kick butt for goodness - along with Neera, Rasaad, Dorn, and four new additions!
Extra Class: New items, quests, and a new class: the spirit-calling shaman!
Story Mode: A difficulty setting to allow players to experience all of the story with none of the Game Over screens
Legacy of Bhaal: A new extra-hard difficulty setting for experienced players.
Siege of Dragonspear is by no means befitting for the Baldur's Gate trilogy! It is simply put a very poor game and should be treated as such with no regard to the previous!
Is this more BG goodness? Yes, bottom line. Caveat: accompanied by non-game breaking glitches.
Why, then, the low ratings? Well, read the one star reviews, and keep an eye out for complaints about the inclusion of something outside of good ol' fashioned men and women from the time when men was men and women was women. A pretty high correlation, no?
(Including of course the reviews by players who really, I mean REALly, support all kinds of gender identity but can't stand for poor writing... which by a wacky coincidence just happens to be found in the character what people would be freaked out by if they weren't so darned open-minded. Weird!)
So, forewarned is forearmed. If that's going to make you sad -- skip this one. If not, don't be misled into losing out on another chapter in this epic gaming saga.
Honestly I would rather rate this game with 0 stars but whatever. I love BG series, one of the first games I've ever played and this is going to be the case unless something comparable or better than Witcher 3 comes out, but this is a blatant crime upon the series. No story, weird looking graphics for a game from 2016, stupid social justice insertions and so on. I would honestly love to get almost anything from BG 3 to Neverwinter Nights 3, some kind of DLC to old BG series...but not this. This is NOT what gaming industries need and this is definitely NOT what players want. The only pro for me from this "expansion" is that it's here on GoG DRM free. So if anyone wants to completely destroy their childhood memories and spend money on this, well feel free to do it but there are way better CRPGs out there than this one.
This "inbetween" sequel got heavy flak for... what again?
A very minor trader-npc that was reavealed, if inquired, to be transgender.
What Internet fails to look at, apparently, is that it's a lovingly crafted, very faithful
game that is by leagues better than BG1.
Good Stuff:
Original voice cast.
A story that connects the two games in a great way.
Nice to look at.
More Viconia.
Meh Stuff:
Pathing.
D&D Ruleset (so silly and antiquated).
You pretty much know how it ends.
Summary:
If you're into old, cheesy D&D games and Infinity this is great.
I wouldn't want to play BG1 into 2 without this.
Thanks for writing
I've just completed SOD. I'm not a hardcore gamer yet I've loved playing BGI, BGII and IWD and I can say the following:
-No crash(s)
-Good soundtrack even if sometimes I miss the one from BG!
-Long game, nice story
I really liked the battle involving lots of enemies this is quite new I think. The game is more linear than BGII : there are less side quests but despite that I think if you liked the previous ones there is no reason you don't like SOD.
There are plenty of references about D&D universes, humour in the dialogues etc. I recommend!
