Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.
From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.
Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.
Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.
The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.
allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.
offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.
based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.
through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.
allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!
Not sure what it is about Act but I just don't enjoy it like I enjoyed acts 1 & 2. Maybe because you suddenly can't just slaughter your way through Baldur's Gate even though the game kind of makes it seem like you'll end up doing that just trying to get into the city...
It feels like a lot of plot elements fall apart in the city too or you have to do things that seem like they should have consequences but for some reason they don't where as in the rest of the game killing a random rat might even have consequences...
Overall I thought Acts 1&2 were a blast though. And it felt really well thought out and designed... well except for an aspect about the map... I felt like the progression in 1&2 was well done and handled but various things fell apart in act3.
As for the map, I really hate cramped convoluted but super over detailed maps. .Basically the overall size of each map is pretty small but they have "walls" all over the place to make it seem like place A and place B are really far apart even though on the map/as the crow flies A&B are next to each other. There's nothing wrong with a larger map that had some dead space in it IMO and I find it preferrable to what we have here.
Also another complaint kind of. Don't bother with trying an evil play through. The game just isn't really designed to allow that in a really fun manner. It's great though as a goody-2-shoes, or even as a pragamatist, but evil.. not so much at least not if you want to also enjoy the companions
At the moment I'm having 300 hours of playtime in this game, one run as Singleplayer, one with a party of three other people and I'm planing on making at least two more runs.
So much time and still I'm finding new things and new way's to approach certain problems and quest. This shows how much free will you can put into this game.
From a narrative point of view it's just wonderful, the characters and voice actors are amazing.
I had only one real bug where the game crashed during multiplayer but reastarting the game and all was fine. There a still patches and mods coming (July 2024), so you could wait a little longer before playing this game, if you like. But it's already one of my all time favourite game.
A shame that Larian is not going to make a DLC or Addon.
The game has a very good sandbox despite the apparent lack of elemental reaction that their predecessor (Divinity Original Sins 2) had. I played it with my friends and the campaign lasted almost a year. Whereas when I played by myself, my campaign lasted 2-3 weeks. There are several creative ways to solve problems and a good variety of spells, weapons, armor and side quests.
I give it a 9/10. The lack of a cape, the lack of weapons in certain weapon branches and the technical problems I had disappointed me but did not prevent me from enjoying my experience with BG3.
I'm waiting for mod support, to be release in september 2024.
I have tried playing this game so many times, trying to have fun with it but I can't. I have tried playing different races, playing with party members, playing solo and all that happens is me hating this game. I finally made it to act 3 and the game literally game me a panic attack walking into the first town. I hate everything about this game, the fight mechanics, the story, the dialog, the characters, I don't even care about the scenary or the graphics. I hate how the game pushes you to have sex with every character you meet, I hate how slow the combat is and how limited your actions are, I hate having to roll for so many basic actions. I have installed and uninstalled this game three times and this is the last. If I never hear or see another thing about baldurs gate again I will be overjoyed.
With Larian Studios restricted to the worldbuilding and art style of Dungeons and Dragons they have built upon DOS2 without the overbearing sense of humour. It's fun for what is in early access.
