Description

Cross-platform multiplayer with Steam is supported.

Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.

Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.

From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.

Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.

Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.

The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.

allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.

offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.

based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.

through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.

allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!

Excellent at this point!

The Game will be released later in 2023 and is very polished at this point in time. It has been early access for quite some time and the progress is very visible. Graphics and Sound are excellent and many crucial aspects (like the rolling of dice for certain challenges) are solved in a really great way, allowing for a very hardcore play as well as a more forgiving route. One thing I totally fail to understand is critisism that "this is no BG anymore but Divinity OS 3" This is simply not true. The World, the gamerules, the Character Building, all of this is entirely Baldurs Gate. And on top you get some innovations that made the Divinity Series so awesome to play. +Interactable Terrain +Different groups in one Area with different interests that you can navigate +Playable Characters with unique background stories integrated in the main story It would be crazy and a severe loss for the Game if Larian did not bring the strong points of their previous games into it. A must buy for any roleplayer.

This is an OK game with no atmosphere

Sorry, but... why are people raving about this game? Aside for incorporating DnD 5e into a game very well, it's just average all around. Characters? Have potential for sure, but the writing is average, if not downright boring. Atmosphere? Well, not too much of it, and the game tries to be funny too much. Yeah, that's how Divinity was and you can just accept that BG3 is basically Divinity and move on - except BG3 is different enough to remind you that this is indeed DnD. So if you're familiar with DnD and Forgotten Realms you might be put off by... everything: how it looks, sounds and feels. When I'm playing BG3 I cannot believe for a second that I am indeed exploring the world of Forgotten Realms. It feels more like some funny scenario. I haven't met a single interesting NPC so far, too. I'm bored, boss. I want interesting characters to talk to, with well written dialogues. Jesus, even findinga hideout run by young tiefling criminals didn't amount to anything interesting. Unfortunately, this is a candidate for a refund for me. How can an RPG with talking bears can be so unimpressive. Divinity 1 was more impressive than this.

Mass Effect dialogue wheel in disguise

Remember how deeply Baldur's Gate would immerse you in its world, just through the dialogues alone? How it could create a sense of reality, the feeling of being part of something new, and wanting to learn more about it? That's partly because in the dialogues of Baldur's Gate your attitude sets the tone, and every action grows organically from that. In BG3, you only get to chose the action, and it dictates what stance your character must take to achieve it. Every actor knows that it's not the text, but the way you deliver it that makes the difference. Life is not made up of basic colors, it's the nuances, the subtleties that make it appealing. Moss green, sky blue, alabaster white, crimson red, hazelnut brown. The dialogues in BG3 use the attitude system from Mass Effect. Green, blue, white, red, brown. But make no mistake, they won't ever straight up tell you that. They'll make you think you can order a Tequila Sunrise, but what you'll get is a Bloody Mary. And then it's somehow your fault for not ordering correctly. Know what you are offered with BG3. The choice is yours.

Divinity 3: Baldur's Gate...

If you like Larian games fine. It's taken Larian's usual approach and added "Baldur's Gate" to the title but apart from that its very different to the titles it is supposed to honour. Its beautiful but the UI is slightly clunky and finding specific actions can be a nightmare. The party members seem to be walking demographic tick boxes. They should also do something about the dice rolls; yes, I know its decided on a d20 but having to watch the animation of the roll over and over is just irritating. It feels like a game that tries to be all things to all people and suffers by stretching itself to thin. If you like the Divinity games then you'll probably enjoy it. If you like Baldur's Gate 1/2, pick up the Pathfinder or Pillars of Eternity games because they are the real "spiritual sucessors".

I really want to like this game...

As the title says I really want to like this game, at least more than I currently do. As someone who played the original saga back around its release and many times since I was exited for this game for largely nostalgic reasons I suppose, and it has been fun to run into Elminster and Jaheira but there is something missing. The fist two games and DLC's were full of humor and whimsy. I find none of that here, just Po-faced companions who take themselves too seriously and seem desperate to bed the player character. I mean seriously, every companion makes a play for the PC at some point and goes away downcast when I reject them, are meaningful friendships not a thing in this universe? Relationships in the party in general seem poorly handled to me. There is no time given for things to build between characters and relationship dynamics just seem rushed to the point where I find myself simply not really caring about the other characters. All their secrets are too easily revealed and this happens way too fast. Anyway that's probably enough about that. Overall I find that the story fails to grip my imagination. Everything of apparent meaning in the game is undermined by an apparent lack of consequences or simply being handed to you on a plate. Romancing companions is pointless as they will all try and jump your bones no matter what you do it seems. There are way to many magical items rendering them valueless and frankly a bit annoying. I get a serious case of choice blindness every time I open my travelers chest. Generally I just find that the story is robbed of meaning by a lack of consequences, cool items and relationships are rendered valueless by being handed to you gratis and false sense of urgency is just an annoyance that breaks any sense of immersion. And do not get me started on the camera and the map. I have never played a game with a more annoying camera and map implementation. Just follow the player character, or the selected character. Oh well, out of space
