It's pretty decent open world hack&slash, no spongy enemies to speak of that bore me, some weird storytelling, some geometry glitching that I can't get over an ankle high brick without jumping, and there's unfortunately many crashes.
Worst part however, is the blue boy constantly telling me to mark shit on my map or the like, repeatedly, even though they said it like a second ago, seven times.
Bought this on sale at the launch of Reign of Sand. Gameplay is decent enough action gameplay with parry and dodge mechanics. Parry timing is well telegraphed and there are options to increase the parry window for those who struggle to do it on time.
There are a wide range of upgrade options to suit many playstyles but the variety of weapons is small and feels kinda samey.
Mobility and traversal mechanics are ok, but it's quite difficult to distinguish between places you can get to and places you can't. I'm beginning to understand why "yellow paint" is so popular in these kinds of games as this is what you get when it's not there.
The game has those annoying "find X" quests where you are given a circle radius in which "X" might be found, but there are not enough clues to help actually find the things. Instead X is usually placed in some random spot that's easy to miss.
Story is your typical "fight tyranny" affair but it can get a bit on the nose at times as some of the things referred to as "tyranny" are actually perfectly reasonable things to want.
A lot of fun. You can create your character to fight the way you want and get creative with your combinations. This game is not afraid to make you feel powerful right from the start and I'm loving every second of it!
Graphics reminded me of Greefall. The level up mechanics is interesting and well-branched (based on both exp and material sourcing). I haven't beaten it yet, I enjoy going through it slowly, discovering the pieces of lore and collecting stuff :)
One thing though: the game was extremely glitchy for me with the original exe file. However, Directx12 executable is also included and it runs flawlessly. I have no idea why didn't they make it the default option, but if you're having problems with the game stability - simply switch to dx12 variant. Rock stable.
